Spiderman or Batman? Hmmm...that's a tough one, really.

Both are "bonafid genius." Both are extremely athlethic. Both have curses they bear (Uncle Ben .v. Bruce's parent). Spidey is more juvenile, where as Batman is dark, and at time demented. Spidey has the hotter girls, but Batman has the toys, the car, etc, etc..

The big difference between the two is....."the conscious." Spidey has a conscious, whereas Batman is 'cold blooded' (DC's The Punisher's) Spiderman has the powers, but I don't know if he could beat any other "superhero", cause physically, Spiderman is weak (without the "powers), wheras Batman could hold his own, against Superman, Manhunter, Lantern, etc.

I'll go with Batman, because he is tougher to beat, then Spiderman. Batman is also cooler, and more versatile.

I think we just uncovered another comics fan on the board ;)

Spiderman is much quicker and stronger than Batman. Batman is at the limit of human quickness and strength, but Spiderman has superhuman strength and quickness. He would pwn Batman. :|

You bet....As we speak, I am currently reading both the "House of M" from Marvel, and the "Infinite Crisis" from DC story arcs... Comics book are just great.

Now Batman .v. Wolverine.......now's that a battle for the ages.....heck, let's throw down the gauntlet, Doomsday .v. Wolverine.

Awesome! Reading that and anything Warren Ellis is writing these days.

Batman defeated Superman. Granted, it rendered Batman a useless blob of poo, but he still took out supes.

I can't remember the name of the comic, but the one that had all the JL characters fight each other. Supes fought Wonderwoman. I think Supes then fought Flash. Batman took out Martian Manhunter.

In the end Batman defeated Superman.

Spiderman wasnt invited.

Batman was the best lines.

To Superman: "The last time you ever inspired anyone...was when you were dead!"

From All Star Batman & Robin: "Why? Because I'm the g-d Batman."

Although, Spidey's lines always crack me up. Bendis has given him some great ones in Ultimate Spidey and in New Avengers.

It's funny that this has been brought up - because long, long ago, I came to the conclusion that Batman is easily the coolest DC hero, while Spiderman is easily the coolest Marvel hero. While I personally prefer Spiderman, I think both are quite meritorious and worthy of mention.

On a side note, I conducted an informal poll at my school years ago (yes, I had too much time on my hands; it came from never doing any schoolwork of any kind): who's cooler, Batman or Superman? The obvious answer is, of course, Batman (Superman is SUCH a tool), but the results were quite interesting:

The overwhelming majority of guys said Batman - in fact, I only had one guy say Superman, and I think he was only doing it to break the trend, while most girls said Superman (although there were a few who said Batman). Interpret that how you will.

My jaw dropped when he said that. The #1 coldest thing Bats has ever said. Awesome stuff.

This is me with a very very drunk Jim Lee. :)

Spiderman was at least chosen (by fate, anwyay) to have superpowers.

Batman is just a rich guy who bought all sorts of cool crap. It's like saying anyone can be a superhero if they're rich enough.

I kind of like the idea that you don't choose to be a Superhero, it chooses you.

I think they'd both fight to the near death, but I give the edge to Spiderman.

Now, Hulk vs. Superman, who would win?

Posted

That depends on Hulk's pain threshold. If its high enough, Spidey can't get away, if its low enough Spidey can wear him down/do him in.

I vote the red corner.

I said Hulk vs. SUPERMAN. Read more carefully. ;)

I think Hulk could kick Spidey's ass, because when the Hulk gets huge, I think he'd be strong enough to break through any webs Spiderman could sling. And, at that point I think he could just swat Spiderman away like a fly.

I think he'd beat Superman. If Batman can with gadgets and just human strength, the Hulk could easily do it, IMO.

 That'll teach me for always thinking about Spidey. (I was thinking an in-city rampage, with Hulk swinging fists at Spidey, but Spidey being nimble enough to avoid them and the building crushing Hulk as the foundations shook. A long shot, I guess. A desert battle, and the Hulk would win so easy its not even funny.

Superman, he's a whole different bag of spanners. If I recall, he gets thrashed by something in one of his films, so I'm sure Hulk could replicate that, but again, he has that Super speed and super strength and other super stuff. He could drop stuff onto Hulk from on high, sure. If it comes to hand-to-hand, Hulk, but if it doesn't, Superman.

Superman can shoot magical happy beams from his eyes. No contest

The general conceit (with DC anyway) is that Batman WILL find away to take down his opponent and he is the one guy Superman is afraid of. There is a great line in the recent Identity Crisis series that goes something like - ...and there was something different in his voice, usually only reserved for his conversations with Bruce (Batman),.. it was fear.

I agree with that sentiment. Batman is the ONLY superhero/supervillian Superman fears.....END OF STORY. Nonetheless, Batman will always be the coolest, superhero (or anti-hero) because sometimes...you have to bend the law, to uphold the law.

With that said......

Batman's only known weakness is that he's only human.

That sounds like a pretty big weakness.

I cope with it. But then, I don't battle Superman.

Also a pretty big strength, seeing as Batman is the only superhero, that can get his hands on kryptonite at anytime he wants.
