I'll be rooting for the Astros, I might try and get tickets for Game 1 this Saturday. I'm not rooting for the Astros b/c it's the Sox, I've been neutral as far as the Sox. But, I want the Astros to win it more, to see Biggio, Ausmus, Bagwell, etc win a title as well as those like Dierker who spent his entire career with them. Also, it'll give Oswalt the chance to put him right there with Santana as the best young pitcher in the game.

I'm rooting for the Astros tonight. Tonight could be one of the best sports nights in my life. The Astros could eliminate the Cardinals and the Colts could humiliate the Rams on MNF tonight. It's a shame that the Blues are the only team in St. Louis I can really stomach.

Who is Mike Shannon and why doesn't he know who plays 2nd for the Astros? That was some of the worst play by play at the end of a game I've ever heard.

I actually like Shannon. He's funny and compared to some of the other goofs who call Cardinal games (on tv and radio), he's good. He is to Card fans what Santo is to Cub fans. Anyway, he's a former Cardinal player who had to end his career early due to some illness/disease. He's been a broadcaster for the Cardinals for more than thirty seasons.

He may be funny Dal but it hurt listening to his call on the last play of the game.

Is JR Richard with the organization? I would love for him to get one. He could've been one of the greatest pitchers of all time.

When it's a loss it can't hurt.

i live in austin, and i've been rooting for the cards. i dont even know how many people will say "oh im from texas. im an astros fan." and yet they couldnt name more than 5-6 people on their roster. people only give a darn when theyre winning, and dont know they exist if theyre not. i dont know if i can stand all the fair-weather idiots gloating any more.

pulling for Cards as well. I went to the Z over Pettitte, last Friday of season game. When the Cubs tied it against Lidge, the seats were emptying a lot through my section. Plenty to play for that day & not all that much interest in sticking it out in a pretty mild rough spot. Lot of pretty obnoxious fans upon the early Houston hr's too. I've prev caught a LA-Hou there & finished the 6th-9th sitting by Lima's wife & kid (just before Lima had the herpes/mistress accusations flying I believe) when sections vacated on a 6th inning Dodgers lead. Can't feel the 'earned it' for that beyond maybe players v many disinterested fans. Anyway, I'm going with Grudz.

Wow, what a crushing loss for Astro fans last night! I can't help but feel for them...and still, I think I need to go along with lowest, c3ci1, and the rest of you that are rooting on the Cardinals. I know many of the Cub players are rooting for the Cards, because of Grudz. Everything that has been said about "fair weather Astro fans" is certainly true.

c3ci1, I too went to that game on Sept. 30th, when the Cubs came back to win. I can't believe Houston fans were so willing to "just pack it in" when the Cubs tied it against Lidge. I'll have to tell you all how I got two autographed baseballs from Dusty Baker before the game...but that's another post. He is a really nice guy.
