Giving Nomar 4-6 million next year is just flushing money down the toilet. Just too injury prone and can't play defense anymore.

The Cubs have A LOT of money to spend this offseason. I don't want to see another significant dollar spent on the pen, the IF and C besides SS should be set. I want Murton to take one of the OF spots. That leaves a hell of a lot of money for 2 OF positions and SS. Dropping 5M on the potential for the best SS in the NL is not flushing down the toilet, it's a smart move. 5M could be spent on Nomar and Giles and whomever is the latest CF of choice can still be fit in the budget.

The $8 million investment for this year was a killer. Nomar's fools gold. If the NL had a DH, I wouldn't mind him coming back as much.

Right cause next year's payroll will be distributed exactly the same way as this year's payroll, only apparently +3M

How was the $8M a killer? Who did it prevent Hendry from acquiring?

kent.

Go w/ Dubois, CPatt & Holla in the OF and could have got Pedro. Not sure if he'd want to play in Chicago, but the money would have been there.

this team is going no where fast. i can't wait to see how Hendry will mess this offseason up. :x

no giles, no leadoff hitter, trade walker for something we don't need, and put together another stellar OF remeniscent of the great '05 cubs...oh, and my personal favorite, resign Neifi F. Perez and Macias.

i wanna be an A's fan!

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't witnessed anything suggesting that Hendry had one iota of interest in Kent at any time. I know Hoops and some others called for him, but Hendry's FA radar was busted most of the 2004-5 offseason.

Unfortunately, he opted for Nomar and Walker instead of Kent and Eckstein. Of course, Ecktein's obp would be .264 w/ the Cubs instead of .364. :(
