Can anyone think of a more fitting end to the Cubs home season than not scoring with the bases loaded, no outs, and a pitcher who couldn't find the plate with a soaked baseball? Today's ending sums up the Cubs' season.

Yep, that 1/2 half inning and the line up defined the whole season today.

Missed the game (which may be a good thing). Details?

Macias leading off, Neifi batting 2nd.

Bottom of the 9th, Cubs load the bases with no one out (bottom half of the order loaded the bases, not the top half) and didn't score, with Jose Macias making the last out of the game.

I think the sad thing is that I am not even suprised or upset. It has become par for the season. I wouldn't even be suprised if I was told that the bases were loaded, 0 out, and 3 pitches later the game was over.

All I can really say is it has been a long year. :x

let alone a guy who is know for grounding into dbl plays pops one up, if any of those guys would have bunted it would have been fun watching them get to the ball...Oh wait that would take huevos on the part of Dusty

It is more than just that the Cubs didn't score. Bases loaded and nobody out with no runs scoring isn't unheard of.

It is that the first two batters in that situation couldn't even put the ball in play to give the team a chance. Even a bloddy double play ground out from Corey scores a run if hit deep enough. Heck, I'd like to see Corey drop down a squeeze even. Something.

But no, those first two batters struck out, the absolute worse outcome in that situation. All anybody asks for is to have the ball be put in play.
