Duke is going to pitch a complete game with only 80 pitches. Macias and Neifi will bat 1 and 2 and will see about 14 pitches the whole game combined. Book it.

I worry about Duke against this lineup.

I like Maddux against Pittsburgh this time of year. I just hope the Cubs can score some runs.

I know a lot of people don't care, but I think Maddux's streak is one of the coolest streaks in baseball and I want to see it continue.

GO CUBS!

I agree about the coolness of the streak. I also agree about the hope of the Cubs scoring runs.

Lets do it!

Go CUBS !!

Posted
Given the Cubs patience at the plate, Maddux's fast working style and the fact that it's a late season game between two teams out of the playoff race, I see this being one of the fastest games of the season if both pitchers are having a good night.

I've been looking at Craig's list and have seen bleacher tickets as low as $15 for tonights game. I might walk over to the park around gametime and try to buy some $5-10 tickets :)

Pittsburgh looks like they are grooming some nice young pitchers for the Cubs to acquire in 2007

Hey, we fleeced them in '03. I'm all for fleecing them again. I wouldn't having Duke in our rotation and Bay in our outfield. :D

Thanks Bruce. If we could have gotten Cedeno in at SS then I'd love today's lineup. But not bad.

I just had a thought about all the Neifi appearances in the top of the order. Is it possible that some team wants Neifi but also wants a 1 or 2 hitter and the Cubs are showcasing him?

Nah, I'm tired of coming up with reasons why Baker has him at 1 or 2 in the lineup. At this point I'm at a "whatever" frame of mind, as far as his decisions.

Posted
No, the Cubs certainly aren't showcasing Neifi. For some reason, Dusty likes him at the top of the order. For me, I'd go with Theriot and Murton 1-2 tonight. After tonight, I'd go with Murton 1 or 2. Heck, I'd throw Barrett in the 2-spot. But they don't ask me, either.

I've got some white-out...

No doubt, thanks for replying though.
