From the WGN Baseball Blog

This Wednesday (weather permitting), Len & Bob will be heading out to the bleachers to broadcast vs. the Pirates at 1p on WGN. We thought it would be a fun way to wrap up the first season.

If you have any suggestions for wardrobe, traditions that need to be upheld, or just want to drop us your thoughts on things to do that day, please post your comments.

We're looking forward to a great day and hopefully a fun broadcast on Wednesday.

For what it's worth I'd like to quote something from our recent Q & A with Len:

Are you and Bob going to do a game from the bleachers like Harry (in bleachers) and Stone (up in the booth) used to do?

Thanks again! Enjoy the rest of the season and many more to come in Chicago.

Hello M&P Man,

Yes, I believe Nomar could do it. If you can play SS, you can play just about anywhere. Only thing would be the running-and with the groin issues, that could be a concern. But if he's healthy, no doubt. And yes, I believe Cedeno can be an everyday player. And on the bleacher question....I'll just say, interesting question.

1) dress comfortably

2) bring your own food or get a dog from the kosher stand on the middle level ... there's no other edible food in the bleachers IMO

3) maintain a good sense of humor ... which I'm sure Len will. :D

Theres only one rule in the bleachers and thats 1 Old Style per inning, no more, no less. Ohh and 2 during BP. And yes, Hebrew National Hot Dogs on the middle level with loads of mustard, tomatos and banana peppers. Ohh and no sunscreen. I guess thats more than one rule, but the first one is the most important. Ohh and "left field sucks/ right field sucks" chants well, suck.

Ohh and no sunscreen

I was at a game this summer and my girlfriend, who is a redhead w/very fair skin forgot to bring sunscreen. Around the 5th inning you could see her turning bright red so I went to get her some sunscreen...$15.00!!! It was for a small bottle also. I know everything is expensive there but 1 small bottle of sunscreen>2 oldstyles, thats just not right.

Also I hope they don't go shirtless like Harry used too. :-s

Ohh well all rules are off for girls. And yes, I went with an Irish girl earlier this year and she had to buy a bottle as well. One game they were giving away bullfrog (the official cubs sunscreen) to everyone waiting in the bleacher line, little did the girls know how much money they were saving.

I wish that would have been the game I was at. I limit the money I bring in because I know how I can get from time to time while in the bleachers. That little sunscreen excursion put a real damper on things. Made up for it at Murphy's though

i got sunburned so bad in the bleachers at wrigley that i honestly thought i was going to die that night. i woke up in the middle of the night shaking uncontrollably, while simultaneously feeling very hot while freezing my butt off.

the lesson is, wear sunscreen.

The beauty of the bleachers is that it's a cooperative enterprise.

If you need the sunscreen, yell it out. I guarantee that someone around you will be willing to trade some suitable sunscreen for less than $15. Maybe for free, or maybe for food/beverage.

Of course, it's good to plan ahead of time. I'm just saying, if you sit in the bleachers and you need something like sunscreen, just say so and see what offers you get. :D

I checked in with Len and asked him about his thoughts on the broadcast. Here's what he had to say about calling the game from the bleachers tomorrow:

I just think it's a great way to end our first season, among the great cub fans. I'm pumped about it.
