I think that with a fully operational and expectational Corey Patterson, we have the WC lead. So I guess it'd be Corey.

If Baker hadn't comically mismanaged the lineups by putting terrible 1-2 combos consistently, or running inferior LF options, or waiting til July to bat ARam 4th consistently, we might have 5-8 more wins right now, which puts us at least *in* the race for a playoff spot.

Thus, blame goes to Baker.

You forgot the "LaTroy over Dempter for closer" debacle, the Macias-as-first-option-off-the-bench-all-year debacle, and the "use a couple of your relievers until they fall apart, one of them literally" debacle.

Agreed. While there may have been other factors that went into this sad sad season, such as players under performing (Cpatt) and the Injury bug, we could have overcome if not for baker.

If we had a halfway competent manager the Cpatt thing wouldn't even have been an issue. A real manager wouldn't have let him suck at the top as long as Dusty did. Same for the injury bug, a real manager wouldn't have stuck with Neifi when you had someone batting .374 in AAA. A real manager wouldn't have continued to put Macias in as the first choice off the bench. A real manager wouldn't have continued to put Holla out in left when he was batting around .200.

I guarantee that if we had a halfway competent manager we would have at least 8-10 more wins. That would put us at least in the WC race. Probably on top.
