How is it possible to go from 2 innings away from a World Series to worthless ballclub in the space of less than 2 years?

That's quite easy. Look at the marlins (90s, not 2003)

What's somewhat impressive is failing the way the cubs did, while trying to succeed

Murton screwed that up. I love the guy, but that was ALL on him.

It depends if they were supposed to go on contact or not. I would imagine that since the infield was back they were, in which case it's on Burnitz.

if it was on murton, im sure we'll hear about it after the game from dusty.

One pitch, one out? With Macias at the plate? Incomprehensible!

I think my sig says it all!

Unless of course the question is which player on the Cubs does not deserve to be on any major league team's roster.

Yes, sac bunt with Patterson when Blanco and Maddux are due up.

My goodness Dusty is a terrible manager. Good thing Dusty has made me not care for a good 6 weeks now.

I don't like the call either... but Blanco is hot lately, and I'm wondering why they even pitched to him with Maddux on deck ???

I suppose, but only really because of two good games in the past month. He's still Henry Blanco, after all. And when Corey isn't likely to ground into a DP, setting things up for Blanco and Maddux just makes me want to cry.

Sox losing 5-0 now. Am I a bad sport to hope the Indians knock them out of the playoffs the last week of the season?

I'm pulling hard for the Indians and Yankees to pass the Sox, leaving them alone to contemplate their worthless lives come October. And thoughts of being a good sport haven't once entered my mind.

Come on over to the dark side.
