Two fun notes from BA's Daily Dish today:

• It was open season on the record books this weekend as Carlos Quentin set a PCL record. The Diamondbacks outfielder was hit by three pitches on Sunday and set the league record with 28 HBPs this season.

• Boise held Tri-City to two hits in a 4-0 win Sunday. Lefthander Donald Veal, the Cubs' second-round pick out of Pima (Ariz.) CC), started the game and worked four scoreless innings while recording seven strikeouts against three walks. Lefthander Ryan Chambers followed, allowing the only Tri-City hits of the day in 3 2/3 innings while ringing up six batters. Righthander Nick Thompson finished the game. Veal, whose low-90s fastball can reach 97 mph, owns only one win in five pro starts. He's worked just 19 total innings as the Cubs are taking it easy on a pitcher who ranked second among all Arizona junior college pitchers with 105 strikeouts during the spring.

I wonder if Veal is hitting the low-90s at Boise this season. According to T2E's draft report, he was inconsistent at Pima, throwing in the 80s some days and in the 90s other days. He definitely had a nice start yesterday.

Carlos Quentin is awesome.

with the talk of lineups and such, just looking at our top prospects right now and if all pan out (nearly impossible, but) I would go to war with

1. EPatt

2. Murton

3. Pie (?)

4. Harvey/Dope

Mercifully the game is over

The runs by the Lookouts may have just won Casey McGehee the Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Game Award

Epatt is still looking for his first hit, but he already has 3 walks in 2 games so far.

He and Felix Pie are going to be in a real battle for who gets to leadoff when they, hopefully, make it to the Cubs.

Hopefully they don't battle, because Felix Pie is no leadoff hitter right now.

Nolasco with his second straight impressive outing: 7 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K. David Aardsma now in.

Yeah, I know Pie isn't a leadoff hitter right now, but it's hard to be any hitter at all when you're hurt.

Fine, when he was healthy earlier this season, Felix did not display the pitch recognition or plate discipline to be a good leadoff hitter in the big leagues. His plate discipline at AA as of now is worse than Corey Patterson's was at AA.

Aardsma has now surrendered 4 Rs here in the 4th to make it an 8-4 game.

After Nolasco already pitched 7?

Whoops, I meant the 8th inning. That 8th and 9th inning were pretty painful, yikes!

Yeah, I think Felix would be best at the 3 spot a few years down the road, if all goes right.

Well, Sing has the walk record and Nolasco appears on his way to the breaking Brian McNichol's record of 12 DJaxx wins, so it would be nice to see Sing hit the record-breaking HR today too.

Congrats to Sing & Nolasco!!!!! =D>

We should keep track of all the franchise records being broken!

Should be an interesting one here tonight in Beloit. Our 3rd rounder Billek against the Twins 2nd rounder Kevin Slowey who is 3-0 with a 2.36 ERA, 53 K and 5 BB in 50 IP here and was 11-1 with a 2.16 ERA and 10 walks in 103 innings in college this year and held opponents to a .171 AVG and finished his college career with 317 K.

Beloit is 2 games up on the wild card. If Chiefs lose 3 they are elminated if they win 1 they clinch the season series against Beloit (tiebreaker) and if they were to sweep they pass BEL in the standings.

Newcomer Steve Harris is in the 2 slot between Fuld and Harvey. Harvey has 97 RBI, two more than Beloit 3rd baseman Dave Winfree in the race for the RBI title.

Thats all from me tonight, I wont have internet access in -game since this is one of 15 broadcasts the Beloit "radio guys" do on the season. I will have the extra phone line the next 3 nights though.

The start of Daytona's game is being delayed due to rain.

Some one could randomly post this before every Daytona game and they'd have a 33% chance of being right.

Just 33%?

The Cubs should move their high-A team to the California League instead. :D

Fuld with a leadoff triple and Harris with an rbi groundout in the 1st.

1-0 Chiefs, middle first

The ump who called the foul ball a home run is behind the plate today.

-------

Two nice defensive plays by Harvey (running catch) and Rivera (diving stop, throw) in the bottom of the 1st.

1-0 Chiefs, top 2nd

-------

Chiefs go quietly in the 2nd.

Snappers tie it, bottom 1st on an rbi single after a PB lets a runner get to 2B.

1-1 to the 3rd

-------

Slowey is impressive; he retired 16 in a row after Fuld's leadoff triple. 7Ks so far

Rivera snaps the streak with a single in the 6th.

--------

I missed stuff due to stuff, now 2-1 Chiefs, top 6.

1-1 to the bottom of the 6th.

The rain is gone and Randy Wells rocked: 6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 9 K, 0 BB. His ERA is down to 2.74. Phelps is now in and has gotten 2 outs in the 7th. Dope with 2 doubles, his BA has climbed back to .240. Daytona leads 3-0.

Dope's locked in tonight (about time!)...besides his two doubles, he hit a bullet that was caught at the wall in his last AB. And he just now missed hitting a HR, hitting it foul for a strike. Rojas is caught stealing in that AB to end the inning, so Dope will try again in the 8th.

Teasley, wearing the long sox, in to face 3-4-5 for Beloit.

Chiefs 2-1, bottom 9

If the Chiefs can close this out, they'll pick a game up in the wild card.
