Wow. If true that could be a HUGE deal for the Sox. I wonder who they would send to the Reds. Then again, this is Bruce Levine we are talking about. He isn't so good with deadlines.

Griffey is for real this year with his 32 dingers. Would the Sox have to give up someone like Rowand do you think? Despite having the Dunn/Kearns/Pena trifecta in their OF in Cincy, none are a true CF.

I would think the Reds would be happy to unload that contract.

the Sox wouldn't trade Rowand. Makes me think though that they'll take on a lot more of Griffey's contract now. We know the Reds need pitching so McCarthy has to be in the deal and I would probably say Brian Anderson is involved in it as well.

McCarthy and Anderson seem to be very steep considering that contract, but who knows how much of that contract the Reds would pay.

well forget what i said anyway...i totally forgot about the waiver rules and there is absolutely no way that both McCarthy and Anderson would clear waivers since both are on the 40 man roster.

Griffey will help the White Sox this year, but won't his salary strap that mid level payroll team down for many years to come? If they fail to win it all, this could turn out to be a bad move by Williams. Not to mention Griffey is still very injury prone.

True, but if it happens, you have to respect an organization that decides to "go for it all" when they have the chance. If they think Griffey will put them over the hump and get them a WS ring, thenas a fan I'd be hard pressed to complain about the deal if it has a potential affect on the future.

It still is a huge risk. Respect the White Sox? No thank you! All teams who think they have a shot @ winning a champioship in Sept. usually make these types of deals. The Sox have had a nice run of it this year, but Championship caliber? I doubt it. The last few weeks have shown their true colors. Griffey put them over the top? we shall see.
