Morgan Ensberg=Suspicious power. LOL

Pat and Ron were talking about how he looks 'bigger' this year.

I know you guys are just kidding around, but anyone (a righty-swinger) who plays their home games in the JuiceBox, feels like they need to be on steroids to be a better player DESERVES to be caught and banned from baseball for LIFE, just because they are so stupid!!

fwiw, Pat and Ron were really talking about how he looked bigger, they never implied steroids.

I want JVB, but then someone's going to have to be released from the 40-man but I doubt they'd do it.

Release Wellemeyer. No loss @ all.

Majorly disagree.

raisin, what do you see in Welle?

He has the pitches to be a bottom of the order starter - he posted an ERA of 3 at AAA in 11 starts this year. He could also be a good set-up man. The Cubs need to give him a proper role and not dust him off once every week in blow outs.

I dont mean to pick a bone with you, but I dont see it. lower to mid 90's fastball, ok slider, changup...and limited success at AAA.

it seems like every time he gets called up his head implodes and he cant find the strikezone. do you think he needs to start?

Bottom of the order starter for Cincy perhaps. This isn't a small market team. They guy's going on 27. Throw the towel in.

No, a bottom of the order starter for the Cubs. I'd rather him start than Jerome Williams.

I don't see why his age is so important. And cutting him would be a waste, trade him if you want.

I went to HS and college in TX, and there was actually an article about (then) Enron Field when it opened being smaller down the lines than all but 3 HS in San Antonio-and there are a ton of HS there.

If he can't make it here, then he's a commodity that can be sent to the teams that can use him. Why do you want Welly cut from the organization, yet clamor for Rueter to be signed?

Haha, someone wants the Cubs to sign Kirk Rueter?

Actually, only dumbies (Palmerio etc) would use steroids in the current urine testing enviornment. Human Growth Hormone (HGH) can only be detected via blood test (which the MLB isnt using).

I see we're giving this one up. DLee's being pinch hit for. Makes sense.

I've officially lost my mind thanks to the 2005 Cubs, but I hope we see Macias in RF - or whatever combination of him or Lawton, if Murton in LF - from tomorrow until 9/1.

Burnitz might be due for a hot streak soon, but that dude is nothing but an overpaid hack right now.

Dusty getting Lee and Ramirez time off????????

Course, doesn't matter now that the season is flushing down the toilet as we speak.

What can the Cubs get for him?? Seriously?

Could catch lightning in a bottle w/ Reuter. At least he's had success in the majors, and can't be much worse than Hill, Mitre or Welly.

Well, i am done--I will continue to keep an eye on this team like a child when a present is being taken through the room, but that is it. No more posting on here--no more thinking about the game all day

This is just not a good team, I will always be a fan, but at least for this year, I am done being a fanatic.

Thanks for the fun and interesting arguments to all.

PEACE OUT!!

for the people sending Wuertz and Welley back to Iowa. Who comes back?? Koronka and ???

It doesn't matter. Wuertz is shaky but Welly should not be here (period). If you can't keep your ERA under 4 in the minors you don't belong in the MLs. I was shocked when I saw that Koronka was sent down so quickly in favor of Wellemeyer. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Koronka is the answr. Actually, I'm inclinded to think that Hill out of the pen is better than as a starter because of his limited pitches. Bring him back. Welly has got to go!

Yep, bring Hill out of the pen. Just don't let him go beyond an inning. Might get a 7 spot tagged on him. :(

lol...still ragging on hill even after your boy glendon got shellacked. nice.

He needs regular playing time to succeed. He doesn't get it in the big leagues (except for about two weeks in May) and that's why I think he struggles more with his control in the big leagues. He gets proper playing time in the minors and does well.

Wait, you want Reuter over Hill, Mitre or Welly? Reuter had success when he could get that FB up over 80 mph.

Question. With the talk of Hairston coming back soon, Who is either gonna get send down or let go? Hopefully not Murton, but I'm scared that's what's gonna happen.

I hope Lawton is brought in to the pitch the bottom of the 8th... make this farce complete.

I'd like to see blanco pitch!

was my assesment on his pitches correct? I reeally dont know anything about him other then the occasional call up for these types of games, then he disappears to Iowa.

Disagree. There have been quite a few pitchers who have succeeded after age 26 (without previous big league success). Welly has the stuff to do it, and he has never been given a proper chance before in the big leagues.
