Ok, lets just say the Cubs win in a blow out (yes, I know that that was a super-jinx). Are you all going to go crazy and become optimistic again?

I'll feel better if the Cubs happened to sweep the Cards in this series, but I wouldn't get optimistic unless we strung some amazing win streak together - like the 15 games back in 2001.

That, or it's a 3-game deficit in the WC for us with a series vs. Houston.

I think that streak was more like 11 games.

Pat: I like Uncle Fester, I think he would have been a good play by play guy.

Yeah, and nice little impression there by Pat. Geez!

While they are talking, Grudz strokes one up the middle. Baseball, guys, baseball! :D

When you start hearing things like that, you know the team's season is in the sh***er.

I have a deep fear that the success of this line up may push Dusty to try it again and again and again. and worse, we start winning alot with it. we end up just missing the playoffs, bu its enough for Hendry to bring Macias, perez, dutchvalue, etc back next year.

someone slpa me, I am haviing a nightmare :willynilly:

If those guys are the reasons the team gains significant ground in the WC chase, then maybe they are not as big a problem as you assume.

Maybe Barrett can't call a game well, but he can throw out baserunnners and he has decent offense. Keep him.

Maddux/Barrett combination throws somebody out!?!?!?

Are we in an alternate timeline here? Who flipped the switch from reality to dream world!??!?!! All these things are happening to/for the Cubs today that is just not normal. Pretty scary and wonderful, at the same time.

I just checked retrosheet, and I found a streak of 14 wins in 15 games, and 11 wins straight in that streak, but no 15 wins in a row.

Only one game -- we'll come to earth tomorrow or the game isn't over yet.

I think I must be confusing that with some streak by the A's around the same time? Or the Mariners - their 2001 boggled the mind.

A's had 11 in 2001. They had 20 in 2002.

Seattle had 15 in 2001.

Wow. I guess we should all be eating some crow today. Macias and Neifi both with 2 hits so far.
