Very interesting CubsWin. With all the teams interested in him now think how many teams would want him then. The Cubs might be one of few teams that could afford him with some other positions being taken by cheap farmhands. What price tag would you put on Dunn if he makes it to Free Agency?

Dunn likely gets a 5/60 deal if not more than that.

I'd do 5/60.

As would I.

But the important thing is that if Cedeno can play SS well, Pie can play the OF well and a young pitcher can join the rotation and pitch well, the Cubs will easily be able to afford 5/60 and then some.

But, unless the Reds will trade him, he won't be a FA until after the 07 season. So thinking about signing him now is a bit premature. It's not like a player with his value will be non tendered.

And by that time we will have Murton, Pie, and Harvey in the OF :D

I don't want to be classified as a Dusty Basher but does anyone actually think Pie, Murton and Harvey will play together ever. If Dusty is around next year I would trade Murton while his value would be considered high. At least it should be for his AA numbers and his hot start to his career.

First of all we dont classify people on this board. Thats a no no. Second of all, I was sorta jokingly projecting the 2008 outfield, the one weve all been dreaming of. Dusty will be lucky to still be the cubs manager next year and will definitely not be here in 2007 or 2008.

Yeah if Dusty is here the same time Ryan Harvey is, he'll have had is contract renewed. And if that happens I think a ton of Cubs fans will have probably just jumped off a building or something in the mean time.

I have the right to classify myself. I am not a person to think I know more than the manager and I don't want ANYONE to think that's what I'm about. Dusty has all day to look up matchups and all night to think of lineups. I don't have the time and don't want to try. I've been reading this board for alot longer than I've been posting and I know the rules about not grouping people and argue the topic not the person. Sorry if I came across wrong.

Oooh, I thought Dunn was going to be a free agent after the '06 season. Hmm. Who to sign...

Sorry, miscomunitcation here, I was just responding to

. I just was pointing out that you dont have to worry about being classified as that. I didnt mean you cant classify yourself.

What big spenders will be looking for SS help this year? Not:

Yankees

Mets

Red Sox

Orioles

Toronto

Angels

Houston

Rangers

Detroit

Phillies

Dodgers

Giants

White Sox

Cards

I would not be surprised if the Cards made a move for Furcal and moved Eck to second. This would make a lot of sense because the Cardinals need an offensive player for next year and will be unlikely to find a great offensive outfielder. Plus they should have more money moving into the new stadium.
