Hairston is obvioulsy hurt because a double swith took him out when he was set to lead off. The question is how hurt? I saw the play and it didn't look too bad so hopefully he's ok. I don't think Corey is ready to come up yet. He needs to get his swing refined and come up at the start of a road trip so he doesn't put extra pressure on himself. Let's just hope they decided to let Hairston rest tonight, cause Burnitz in center isn't a great idea for long term.

i really wouldn't be against patterson being called up, now that we have lawton leading off. if he's not ready, i could live with lawton in right and murton in left until he is. either way, i don't think losing hairson will be that big of a loss, unless dusty plays the insanity card and starts macias.

no Dusty will play the other insanity card and play Hollandsworth because he got a crap broken bat hit for his second hit in 50 ab's. We'll probably see some Macias too. Murton will still only play against lefties because he struck out against Urbina. That makes sense to Dusty. Oh wait I'm making fun of Dusty again I guess I should stop so nobody thinks I'm racist.

I hope Hairston isn't hurt too bad. I hate for anyone to get hurt, but we wouldn't miss him that much. The only good offensive quality I've seen of him, ability to take walks, has been almost non-existent lately. Who I do fear is hurt is DLee. I thought his shoulder might be bothering a week ago, but saw him grimace again tonight after swinging. I think he may be playing hurt. That would explain his dropoff in average over the few games.

Yeah I saw the swing you are talking about with Lee. Looked nearly identical to the one where he ended up having to take a few days off to let the inflamation go down. I certainly hope he is ok.

From Tribune -

Jerry Hairston injured his left elbow while trying to make a sliding catch of Mike Lieberthal's double in the sixth, and will fly to Chicago on Thursday for an MRI before meeting up with the team in New York. X-rays showed no break.

"I just hope it's hyperextended and I'll be back in a couple days," Hairston said.

If Hairston has to go on the disabled list, the Cubs would be expected to call up Corey Patterson from Triple-A Iowa.

Oh. God.

Here's your lineup for this afternoon's game (in 12 hours or so);

If Derrek can go:

LF Lawton

2B Walker

1B Lee

RF Burnitz

3B Ramirez

SS Perez

CF Macias

C Blanco

P Prior

If Derrek can'T go:

LF Lawton

2B Walker

3B Ramirez

RF Burnitz

1B Hollandsworth

SS Perez

CF Macias

C Blanco

P Prior

Hell, even if Derrek could go tomorrow (shoulder is ok), I'd still see Dusty playing that 2nd lineup.

"Gotta give DLee some time off man. Dude, we gotta load up on the lefties vs Myers, who a RHP."

Meh, Macias has been better than Hairston lately, or so it seems. Hairston doesn't get on base anymore, and Macias never has, but Macias hits occasionally. Plus it puts Walker back in the top of the lineup where he belongs.

They should give Patterson some more time in AAA and recall Greenberg instead. The kid deserves some PT.

Maybe the un-needed Edmond-esk first diving catch set it off, then when he really needed to extend to get that last one, it banged it pretty good. Just a thought...
