Just heard it on Sportscenter.

Is this just because they need a RF and he can play there, or something yet to come....? I don't see them moving Damon to another OF position so Cruz, Jr can play CF - aka, his natural spot.

Didn't Jose play RF for the Giants a year or two ago?

Does this have any bearing on Manny's immediate future?

No. But being a guy who wants to see every possibility exhausted to get Manny to the Cubs, I'd sure love to think that way!

Even if ARam is part of the package sent back to Boston like Steve Stone was saying? I'd love to have Manny here as well (provided Boston picks up a large chunk of his salary) but not if it is going to cost us someone like ARam who we couldn't replace easily.

From the looks of it, the Red Sox are being super agressive right now. According to BP they're pursuing trades for Guardado, Dunn, Wagner or a Mets OF. Not to mention the grumblings about JC Romero.

If we trade Aram for Manny I'll be super ticked.

Me too, the more I hear about trades this year the more I hope we sit still. I heard Stone mention having to send ARam as part of the deal to get Manny, and I heard somewhere that Texas was asking for Pie and Hill for Soriano...hopefully prices fall really quickly or Hendry does the right thing and sits tight. A healthy Wood, Nomar, and Williamson will be a big addition. A few trades would be nice to get another bat and some more bullpen help would be nice but not at these insane prices.

Ok, I DEFINITELY wouldn't do that. What I meant to say was, we should exhast every possibility THAT MAKES SENSE to get Manny to the Cubs. Trading either of ARam, DLee, Prior, Z, Barrett, or Murton would not make too much sense. MM maybe as he's a LF too, but that dude's got a huge upside it would appear, would like to hold on to him for a bit longer.

Barrett is tradeable, especially if they throw Shoppach into the trade with Manny.

Didn't Shoppach get traded already?

No, there was a deal where he was going to be sent along with OF Adam Stern to Colorado for Bigbie. All that was needed was the approval from Boston's ownership then it fell apart.

And why would the Red Sox want Barrett? I'm pretty sure they're set at the catcher position.
