I would like to see Dunn in Cubbie blue, but if not the Cubs the Reds need to move him somewhere else.

If I'm a Reds fan, I would be very disappointed to not see one of my four outfielders traded in this 'sellers' market. Due to the number teams in play for the wild card the O'Brien can virtually create bidding war for Kearns, Dunn or Pena between a number of teams.

If Red management doesn't take advantage of this opportunity.......they should stay where they belong........the only 6th place team in baseball.

The Reds are the worst-run club in the NL. Things were better with Marge - at least they had an owner who wanted to win and a competent GM in Bowden.

Update (Per Rotoworld.com via ESPN)

Alfonso Soriano - 2B - Rangers

ESPN's Jayson Stark believes the Twins have a chance of acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Rangers using J.C. Romero, Kyle Lohse and Bret Boone.

The Mets and Cubs also remain possibilities for Soriano, although the best guess now is that he remains a Ranger until the offseason. Jul. 30 - 6:44 pm et

Both started and are playing currently right now vs Red Sox. Lohse getting pretty beat up.

Marge Schott? Wasn't she the Nazi sympathizer? I don't know if I could be a fan of a team run by people like that. I definitely would not give any of my money to them.

The dude had a bad tools fetish, but he most always kept a balanced club.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen the words "competent" and "Bowden" in the same sentence.

Bowden would still be in Cincinnati if not for the Reds' ignorant owner, Carl Lidner's insistence that Barry Larkin remain a Red back in 2000. That contract and Griffey's implosion destroyed the team.

He had at least a plan; the current management has run the franchise into the ground.

No, he came into power in '92 and was fired in 2003.

The current Reds management is terrible and they're not willing to spend money like the old regime.

If the Reds don't get rid of one of the OF or Casey in a seller's market this year, you have to consider them to be huge losers and pretty much inept.

At least they got pretty good value for Randa.

The other problem is the Reds aren't even on TV here in Southeast Indiana, and I live a hour from the ballpark! In essence, they've ceded Southern Indiana to the Cubs.

I just got home from checking out the Bears training camp...can anyone tell me some of the Cubs-related developments regarding trades today?

Will Carroll said that the Cubs and Twins are done making deals. Other than that there hasn't been a whole lot else new. Manny didn't start tonight, and there's rampant speculation to the reason for it, ranging from him not showing up at the ballpark, to a trade being consumated.

So our big deadline trade was Jody Gerut? Yay, we're on the way to the Series now...

Wait until Monday to say that. Lot's of people have said things that may or may not be true in regards to the trading deadline. This wouldn't be the first time that the media has been wrong about a trade.

I suppose that's the case...if you choose to believe Will Carroll. As far as rumors go, I don't consider him a very reliable source...

All I gotta say is that if Gerut is our sole aquisition this year. I'm gonna throw something.

Meh... While I'd like to see an upgrade in LF and in the bullpen, I could live with our current team +Nomar and Williamson, assuming Murton continues to get a good portion of the starts in LF.

Still, I'm holding out hope that we'll get a new LF in the next 16.5 hours or so...

Better make sure you're not at work when that happens then. Or, wear a hat to throw or something.

Yea. I wont figure out what has/hasnt happened till I get home from work. Thats probably a good thing.

Its 99.9% sure, according to Jayson Stark, that Manny and the Mets ain't happening.

Jim, if ever we needed a miracle from you, we need it now!

I'm holding out hope for Manny, Huff or Dunn. Soriano would be OK too I guess. I just hope we get someone in LF.
