A "Did You Know" from IowaCubs.com:

On July 25, 1904, captain “Buck” Thiel of the Des Moines Politicians was arrested for assaulting a local newspaper reporter. (Thiel was upset with the game report in that morning’s paper, which used the words “rotten, disgusting, unpardonable, intolerable, amateurish, juvenile,” and “incompetent” in describing the Politicians’ play in a 4-3 home loss to Omaha.) Thiel pleaded guilty and assault and battery, and was fined $10. He was later traded to the Omaha Rangers.

Also, everyone should vote in their poll. It asks "Hot enough for you?" "@#&%^$!" currently leads with 61.7%. "Yes. Make it stop!" is in second with 18.7% followed by "No. Bring it on!" with 12.1%.

And yes, I realize that only adds up to 92.5%.

I just voted and the total added up to 92% :-k

Find the missing 8% and you'll probably find where those socks end up that you know that you put in the dryer!

I voted "No. Bring it on!" because I don't live in Iowa and feel Iowans should suffer. :D

And Anderson Tavarez was roughed up for 3 R on 6 H in the top of the first inning. Daytona is coming up to bat in the bottom of the first.

Scott Moore just missed a two-out HR, the OF Medina got a glove on the ball at the wall but didn't catch it, allowing Scott to get into second with a double. Brian Dopirak grounds out 6-3 to end the inning, though.

Yeah, you'd never ask people to feel sorry for you because of the heat and humidity.

Billek with a solid debut -- 5 IPs, 5 hits, 1R/1ER, 4Ks/1BB. He took advantage of the triple play. :)

3-1 Chiefs to the 7th.

I know that Nomar has been playing down in Mesa, so with Mesa's day off today is it just kind of like a travel day for him and he'll make his debut tomorrow?

I read somewhere that he was going to meet with team doctors in Chicago today -- he may be at Wrigley for the game tonight. He's expected to show up in Peoria tomorrow.

ETA: Nathan will see if Nomar will agree to be interviewed on the pre-game show, which should kick off at 6:30 tomorrow night. They're expecting media overflow in Peoria, so they aren't sure what his availability will be.

The broadcast link is on the Chiefs home page.
