To be fair to Neifi, he has been asked to bat out of place in the lineup, including leadoff .... which, from my understanding, is a task so unfair and taxing to a player's psyche that few, if any, ever recover from the unspeakable torment.

Would you please light a candle and say a little prayer for Neifi tonight?

That's one of the funniest things I've read on here in a while.......

The neifi Angst will end soon enough when Nomar comes back. Then Macias will rightfully regain his position as Cubs whipping boy.

I don't like Perez and would rather play Cedeno to see what he can do. That being said I don't have that much of a problem with Perez batting 7th.

In this debate both sides are right, Perez has been very good and also terrible. He's been one or the other all season. Though he may be going well lately (last 2 games) that's no reason to rub that in anyone's face. Conversely, once he starts tanking again there's no need to point out that he's not very good.

That's a good line. Patterson being moved around in the lineup has been overblown as an excuse for his struggles. But there was more to it than just moving him to a different spot in the order every day.

How much of a disaster would it have been if Perez was asked to bat cleanup? Trying to turn Patterson into a leadoff hitter was just as dumb an idea as asking Perez to drive in runs with his power. Can you imagine how bad Perez would look trying to hit HRs? Sadly, we can easily conjure up images of Patterson trying to transform into slappy McGee.

Ultimately Patterson is as much to blame as anyone regarding his struggles. But you can't ignore that having 3 different hitting coaches preeching 3 different approaches didn't help either.

Ronny Cedeno plays very good defense, couldn't possibly hit much worse than Neifi, and provides upside for the future. Offensively Neifi is as good as he'll ever get and he's terrible. I couldn't imagine any intelligent manager wasting time with a dead end like Neifi when Ronny Cedeno is available. Neifi and Holla get my votes for least valuable players on the team, largely because of how they've been used. The sad thing is they could have been valuable bench players. As starters they are utter crap.

Don't blame the players for the ridiculous roster management of the manager.

Statistically, I think Hollandsworth is the best pinch hitter on the roster. Neifi would be an ideal utility infielder and pinch-hitter. The only guy on the roster who shouldn't be there at all is Macais. Perez does everything Macias does and does it better.

one more flog on the deceased equine...

we need not imagine this. see the first post in the thread.

and interesting you bring up the name McGee in reference to Patterson. my wishes for Corey were always to become the next Willie McGee with a few more HRs.
