Gallagher and Pawelek. This should be good.

Oh yeah, and then there is that matter of Mark Prior pitching for the series win in St. Louis.

Wow, of all the Cubs starters today, Ryu has the highest ERA at 3.34. That's some pitching!

I'm really eager to see how Welly does today. He's had two very good starts since the All Star Break. I'm hoping that he's turned the corner as a starter. If he's turned a corner, he could either be an excellent trade chip, or he could really help the Cubs dwon the stretch.

I'm curious...how hight does everyone see Welly's ceiling as? Does he still have the potential to be a #2 or #3 starter? Or is that stretching it. He throws the ball quite hard after all.

In regards to Wellemeyer, I still recall a brief conversation with Jim Hendry earlier this season in regards to Wellemeyer. Hendry said that he felt that for the Cubs to be able to make a real push late in the season they would need Wellemeyer playing well from the pen. Granted that was earlier this season, but still worth mentioning.

I was actually going to point out a couple of items from Welly. Seemingly as soon as he was placed in a sitaution where he knew when he would pitch and got consistent work he has done really well.

The 2nd point is that once he agreed to a NSBB Q & A he has caught fire. Its the NSBB Mojo!

ha ha

Hopefully we'll be able to get that interview ASAP. Having Corey in Iowa has understandably made things busier than normal in AAA, which has backed up our sessions. FWIW I was supposed to get a call from Rich Hill last week but he wasn't able to call. How cool would that have been!

Yeah, I remember that conversation as well. If I recall correctly, Hendry ALSO said in the same interview that they still see Welly as having the chance to be a good starter down the road. They were only putting him in the bullpen in the short term in order to help the Cubs in the short term.

Chiefs to start at 2:45 EST after this joke of a groundscrew finally gets the field playable

Maybe they've been watching the clips of the groundscrew in Florida!

Just got front row for the Chiefs game on Tuesday, hopefully Nomar will be there. Butt E-Patt, Harvey, Fuld & the gang will be good enough for me \:D/

It sounds like they're wading through mud in Lansing. Gallagher only lasts an inning and two-thirds, gives up 5 walks, 3 Ks, 6 runs (3 on an inside-the-park HR as Fuld slips, slams into the wall, and then falls down going for a ball over his head, but stays in the game), 5 hits, 62 pitches. Gallagher leaves with 2 outs and the bases loaded. Mike Jones in for the Chiefs.

Gallagher's ERA to 2.40 as Jones gets a K for the 3rd out.

E-Patt is 2-2.

Harvey is getting close to breaking in to the top 20 all time single season RBI list for the MWL. 8)

Sounds like quite the fun game. I'd imagine the mound is absolutely horrible today.

Yep, Nathan mentioned both starting pitchers having some problems with footing out there.

Fuld walks, EPat singles, Ryan Harvey with an RBI fielders choice groundout, 6-1 Lugnuts.

Pawalek's line: 4 IP, 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts.

Nomar went 0-3 today but didn't play the whole game. He did turn a 6-3 DP, though.
