The Cubs have been looking to unload Wood and his contract all year. No takers. It would have to be a Sosa like deal and there is no reason for the Cubs to do this.

That sarcasm is uncalled for. It doesn't take talking to them to infer that they want to stay in Chicago. The fact that Sarah is from the Chicago area, plus the fact that they bought a house in the area within the past couple of years, would tend to suggest that they want to stay in Chicago.

Not ot nitpick, but the fact that his wife is from Chicago doesn't infer anything other than she's from Chicago. I'm from the Chicago area and no longer live there, and haven't for years. And I really like the Chicago area.

As far as buying a house....that infers nothing either. People buy and sell houses all the time. And Kerry would be no different.

It's comical when everyone says that KW can't be traded because of his "no-trade" clause. Players with those clauses get traded all the time. It just means the players has to approve the trade. That's it and nothing more!

Thank you, perfectly said. For some reason people can't understand that last paragraph.

Oh you talked to them lately, how were they doing by the way?

Why is it uncalled for, it isn't a cheap shot or an insult, on all the boards I've been with, those kind of remarks are perfectly fine just as they are in REAL life, I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Not even the Yankees will take him?? I find that hard to believe.

It doesn't make it impossible but what it probably does is makes it at the very least extremely difficult or not worthwhile. Yes, players do approve trades but usually not until they've forced the team trading for them to pick up an expensive option. This is great for the player but it means that the team that is trading the player won't get as much in return. There have been many examples of this including Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson and our own Fred McGriff.

Furthermore, when a player is dictating terms it drives his value down. That's fine if all you're trying to do is dump a bad contract. I would imagine, however, that the Cubs would expect to get some value for a player like Wood. If all they wanted to do was get rid of him they could just let him play out the last year of his contract and then not pick up his option.

AZ does not have anything particularly attractive.

Carlos Quentin and Connor Jackson plz.

My bad; I don't know those guys. Stats? I was also hoping we'd get some proven talent back for him, so I was not thinking of AA or AAA guys.

The real question isn't should we trade Wood, it's should we shut him down right now and have him have the surgery. If the surgery will help, why wait until the off-season? Right now, as much as I like Kerry, I can't trust him out there. I'd rather we were fixing the problem and getting him completely ready for next year. Why sell low now? I think the Schilling comparison is spot-on. I could be wrong, but isn't it worth waitng to see for sure?

They're the #2 and #3 prospects in the AZ system behind Stephen Drew. Quentin projects as a RF, Jackson as a LF/1B. Jackson is 23, Quentin is 22. Both project as unbelievable hitters, with Quentin being a prototypical LF and Jackson having some defensive issues. The numbers this season in AAA (PCL)...

Jackson: 324 ABs, 115 H, 37 2B, 2 3B, 8 HR, 31/68 K/BB, 3 SB, 2 CS

Totals (AVG/OBP/SLG): .355/.459/.556

Quentin: 325 ABs, 100 H, 19 2B, 2 3B, 19 HR, 45/53 K/BB, 8 SB, 0 CS

Totals (AVG/OBP/SLG): .308/.425/.554

Quentin is more the total package, but Jackson's walk rates are simply off the charts. Both will likely be offensive forces for the Diamondbacks whenever they manage to open up space for them (Green and Gonzalez being the two guys blocking them).
