Even as a Cub fan I don't understand why Claussen didn't come inside on somebody. Does no one know how to pitch inside these days?

ARam doubles, Lee scores, Claussen gets the gate. 7-1, two outs in the fourth, runner on second.

Thanks for stoppin' by Brandon. Come back sometime when you can stay longer.

Looked to me like he tried to come inside on Ramirez in his second AB, and Ramirez put it in the seats. Same thing with Hairston(!) but it was just foul. His fastball just wasn't hard enough to get inside.

That's two pitchers in a row that we knocked out before the 5th inning.

Come on Cubs, make the Reds use their pen.

And now it's seven to one.

We look like a good team when the offense shows up.

I know you'll hate to read it, but this really coincides with Patterson being demoted and Hairston and Walker moving to 1/2.

Not saying it caused it, but there is a correlation there.

Funny-- alot of people (me included) thought New York got shafted in the Claussen - Boone trade. Turned out a hell of a lot better for the Yankees.

It helps to be facing the worst pitching staff in the NL in a little league park, but it's still fun to watch! :D

Regardless of numbers, the offense just feels a lot different with Hairston/Walker at the top. That Corey/Neifi thing was just depressing.

Wow Claussen got hit like a pinata... 5 HR!

Williams is good... wonder if he'll even be in the rotation next year since the Cubs are stuck with Maddux

Does anyone else have a problem with Blueheart's sig slowing down their computer? If not, I'll just have to accept that my computer is old and slow.

I have a new laptop, but no, I haven't had any problems.

Wow some of these guys on the Reds make Corey Patterson look like a contact hitter... 97 K's for Dunn, 61 K's for Dunn in about 185 PA's, and 64 K's from LaRue in about 240 PA's. Dunn it's easier to swallow because of the walks and the power, but the other two... yikes!

It seems like the rest of the team was thinking like a lot of us on this board were that putting Corey at the top of this line-up only hurts its chances and each day they saw Corey leading off put a damper on things before the first pitch was thrown.

Players know stats and they know the importance of have a lead-off and number 2 guy with good OBP. Now that they have that, I think they believe in their chances to score and win a lot more than they used to. And that is the really important thing.

When the players believe in themselves, good players can suddenly start playing like great ones.

Especially that other Dunn, he's brutal.
