Daytona might be playing a DH to make up for Saturday's rainout. Nothing mentioned on their web site yet.

According to the Herald Tribune they'll play only one game today, and a doubleheader on monday.

Nolasco is having a bad day. Ricky has currently given up 6 runs off 8 hits through 2 2/3 and the bases are loaded. ](*,)

Ron just congratulated NSBB.com on the winning bid for the broadcast auction! He went on to say "Thankfully they didn't pick this game!"

E-Patt is not playing today... routine day off, or plane flight to Daytona? :)

If that's the case I'm glad Bo is on board with us!

He showed up to the park late...was in the original lineup but missed stretch...and was removed by Garcia..

don't jump the gun, I'll be shocked if he, harvey or gallagher go anywhere this year...

The latter two I don't think need to go anywhere, being high school guys who generally move up the ladder a rung at a time. It doesn't make sense to me to leave Patterson at a level comparable to the one he's played at for 3+ years now, especially when he's proved to be more than capable at that level.

For those of you who may have missed it, when I met Hendry in Jackson he said that the decision on Patterson is solely in the hands of Oneri.

Truffle-

i understahdn your point, but there are 2 reasons it wont happen.

1. Cubs love to keep guys at one level . Dopirak definitely deserved a promotion last year...agreed? PLus they' dlike to see Eric contend for a batting title and help us contend for a playoff spot.

2. Where do you play him? Chirinos is hitting .260 at 2nd in Daytona, Theriot hitting .300 in WEst Tenn. and Fontenot hitting .280 in IOwa. so unless Walker goes down again and everyone goes up a level, i dont see it happening...

just my 2 cents...

1. In my mind, comparing high school guys and college guys is kind of apples and oranges. If Dopirak had proven himself at a level like the MWL three years in a row (Patterson's years in the ACC), I think it would have been a no-brainer to move him up. I doubt very much that Patterson will struggle at Daytona the way Dopirak has this year.

2. That makes sense, there is kind of a logjam. Still, I consider him easily the best prospect out of those guys you listed, so my clamoring for a promotion is based more on what I think would be best for his development than the state of the rest of the Cubs' system. Personally, I'd like to see him in West Tennessee next year. One level at a time would get him to Chicago in 2008 or 2009, which is much to slow for a player of his age and ability.

P.S. - I don't know much about this Estrada guy but he's, uh, having a decent game so far. That's all I have to say about that.

They didnt just yank Estrada, he came up lame after fielding a bunt in the 6th...faced the next 2 batters but didnt have the same oomph on his FB or follow through leg kick....

it looked like a groin when he lunged for the ball, no report from the clubhouse yet, hopefully he is ok....
