I would readily do Patterson for Wilkerson. I'd even throw in Leicester or Welly to get it done.

If Bowden really twisted our arms, I'd even part with Macias.

wow really

I don't know. Macias has been one of our best pinch hitters lately. Fred, can you back me up with the numbers?

No, any manipulation of statistics to show Macias having success will have this site and all visiting it sucked into a black hole by Gremlins.

Wilkerson would be a perfect player for this team the way that Paul O'Neil was perfect for the Championship Yankees' teams. But, Bowden is looking for power hitters. He's even trying to trade for Wilson, which is an indication of how desperate they are for a power hitter. Taking away a decent power guy like Wilkerson would not be in line with his goals this year.

I actually made this comparasion, but the Cubs already have a Paul O'neill type player on the Cubs...his name is Matt Murton.

Finally, why do people still think the Cubs are going to make a trade? There isn't anybody available who would be an upgrade (significantly) over Murton/Hollandsworth. And Nomar is expected back in August (bye-bye Macias?) So again, where would the Cubs try to upgrade at? Manager..... If Hendry makes a trade, it will be for a middle reliever, like McDougal.

I guess you could argue that Macias is our best pinch hitter..... but it would be a "best of the worst" kind of argument. All the players with better numbers than Macias are either regular starters on the team, or not currently on the team.

So your numbers seem to show that we would be served by bringing Fontenot or Grieve back to the Show? :-k

I don't know that I'd draw that inferrence based on 12 AB's between 2 players, ..... but what the hell do I know ??
