That's a season high 8th team walk in the game for the CUBS.

That's usually like a week's worth of walks for this team.

This seems like a completely different team than the team that got swept in Atlanta. Taking walks, timely hitting, good pitching. Complete 180.

I'm happy for this team. These guys get to go into the break on a happy note. Then they can play Pittsburgh and Cincy before STL.

Yup. 4 games aganist Pittsburgh and 4 games at Cincy. If we can get 3 out of 4 on each series, we'd be in good shape before the Cardinals series.

Well, it's been like this on and off several times in the course of the season. Basically it's a lack of consistency. If the Cubs can stay away from bad streaks and have some prolonged extended good runs -- not necessarily, say, 10 in a row, but if Cubs win eight out of 10, lose one, win seven out of nine then that's what the Cubs need to do to make the run.

There are alot of players on this club who have to be looking at CPatt and thinking, "my job isn't safe"

Good move by Hendry.

Agreed. Especially gutsy considering CPatt was a Hendry guy. It's a shame though for Corey because he ended up being the fall guy when he never should have been leading off to begin with. Speed != good lead off hitter. Corey was a run producer throughout his career and the big league club tried to make him into something that he isn't.

But for a horrible Novoa pitch, the Cubs could have gone 4-3 against Atl and Fla. (It still leaves us swept by the Nats, though...)

82 pitches through 7. Unless Maddux implodes in the 8th, you have to let him go for the complete game. That way, the bullpen will be very rested for Pittsburgh, Cincy, and St. Louis.

Decision time. Maddux at 82 pitches on a hot day. You gotta think his day is done, and if so, nice job old man.
