Ok, hopefully this will a fun little discussion. Your task is to construct a Cubs team of all prospects. When constructing the team assume that all prospects are at or around their maximum realistic ceiling. So it's not like make a team for 2008, it's pretty much just if you could take all the prospects and speed them all up to their ceilings what team would you field. You can be as in depth or vague as you like (i.e. an entire 25 man roster or just starting 9).

Since I'm not as prospect savvy as a lot of people here, here is my stab at it.

C- Soto

1B - Sing

2B - E. Patterson

3B - Moore

SS - Cedeno

LF - Murton

CF - Pie

RF - Harvey

Bench of guys like:

Fontenot

Greenberg

Theriot (probably work the platooning situation WT has)

Pitching is kind of Crapshoot so i'll just name my favorite 5 and not try to figure out a bullpen

Pawelek

Hill

Pinto

Gallagher

Nolasco

Aardsma - Closer

Ok, I'm confused here. What do you mean by "maximum realistic ceiling"? Odds of player achieving his ceiling in the big leagues? Or should I just be picking the top ceiling per position throughout the minors?

This should be fun.

*Question edited, but I got my answer.

Yes, they've all reached their realistic ceilings. IMO injuries like Guzman's lower his realistic ceiling, but if you feel he can be a front line starter still go ahead and use him, same with Brownlie.

EDIT Ummm, maybe I didn't think this through as much as you did  . Just go with a team of all prospects from each position that you think would make a good ML team.

Here goes:

C Mark Reed, Boise

1B Brian Dopirak, Daytona

2B Eric Patterson, Peoria

SS Ronny Cedeño, Cubs

3B Scott Moore, Daytona

LF Matt Murton, West Tenn

CF Felix Pie, West Tenn

RF Ryan Harvey, Peoria

Bench:

C Geovany Soto, Iowa

1B/OF Brandon Sing, West Tenn

1B/3B Matt Craig, West Tenn

SS Buck Coats, West Tenn

2B/3B Mike Fontenot, Iowa

OF Adam Greenberg, West Tenn

Rotation:

LHP Mark Pawelek, Mesa

RHP Angel Guzman, ?? (DL)

LHP Sean Marshall, West Tenn

LHP Rich Hill, Iowa

RHP Billy Petrick, Daytona (DL)

Bullpen:

Closer: RHP Jason Wylie, Daytona

Primary set-up: RHP David Aardsma, West Tenn

RHP Jermaine VanBuren, Iowa

RHP Randy Wells, Daytona

RHP Carlos Marmol, West Tenn

LHP Renyel Pinto, West Tenn

Glaring omission: RHP Sean Gallagher, Peoria :o

EDIT: I just saw your edit. These are the guys I think have the highest ceilings at each position, these aren't the guys I think will necessary have the most success at the big league level. I'll have to think more carefully about that.

No, what you did is what I was looking, my Edit was a bad response to your original post (that you edited away).

Catcher was the position I didn't really know about, is Reed a draft pick from this year or last?

I like Raisin's roster, but Gallagher has to be on that team, and Nic Jackson would be on my bench.

I refuse to give up on Nic!

He's also Seattle OF Jeremy Reed's younger brother. Drafted in the third round last year.
