Let's hope Wellemeyer outpitches Buccholz tonight. There's likely to be some scouts in the crowd watching this game and Wellemeyer could pull in some help.

Hey kids.. I enjoyed the Q&A with the website so much.. that I would like to do it again.

Would like to shoot for July 7th (weather permitting). If you guys want to set up a different subject and have the questions pour in from there, that would be cool with me.

BTW, Aunt Florence had better not open her window right now because she would get soaked. It's raining pretty good here in the Smokies. Hopefully, we play ball tonight.

Thanks, Ron! I'll set that up now.

That's great! You know, I live close to Jackson and wouldn't turn down a live interview during a game

BTW, thanks for reading my e-mail about Aunt Florence during the game the other night. My wife was cracking up when she heard it!

Nate Baliva says that Vince Coleman is in Peoria this week working with the team (and Eric Patterson just stole his 24th base in the bottom of the first). Andy MacPhail is also in attendance.

I can't get the Hawks video to load. However, they do archive the games and judging by the few seconds I watched of yesterday's national anthem, the quality is actually quite good.

Silly time zone. They're watering the field right now in Boise. The live video is great.

Bacon had an infield single, stole a pair of bases, and scored the tying run. Unfortunately, Murton was thrown out at home on a great throw.

Pinto with "only" 81 pitches through 6. 2-2 score.

General impressions of "Downsy" in the first:

-Pretty easy delivery

-Has a nice, slow curve

-Works quite fast

P9, P8, and 6-3 to make it a 1-2-3 inning.

Coats nearly makes a great play but the first base ump said the throw was wide. Jaxx trail 3-2.

Hawks up 1-0 in the bottom of the first.

Now 2-0 after a wild pitch.

Taylor makes it 3-0 with an RBI single to left.

According to the announcer, pitching coach Hank Azaria (at least that's how I heard it) said Downs would throw more curves tonight.

flyout, P3, K in the 2nd for Downsy.

Downs gives up a pair of singles with 1-out in the 3rd. He got the next batter to ground into what should have been an easy inning-ending DP but the relay from (Mota?) went approx. 40 feet before bouncing. Should be an unearned run because the runner was at 2nd. 3-1, middle 3.

Bacon Ks and the Jaxx lose 4-2. Sing juuuust missed a HR in the 9th that would've tied it up.

Downs gives up a leadoff walk, bunt single, strike out, walk, and a 2-run single to surrender the lead. A basehit to right follows and the Hawks trail 4-3 with just one out. Downs leaves before getting out of the inning.

I didn't see some of the hits, but he was throwing a TON of curve balls tonight. Probably just wanted to work on it.

Hunton comes in and gives up an RBI single through his legs on the first pitch.

Yeesh. Slow grounder to Mota and he drops the ball while trying to throw to second for the 2nd out (wouldn't have had a DP). That's his 2nd error of the night.

Hunton gets a force at home on a grounder but then gives up a 3-run double on a hanging slider. Hawks down 8-3 in the 4th.

And he gives up a 2-run HR on the first pitch. 10-3. All of these runs are unearned.

Yeesh. Talk about bad defense. Mota gets another DP ball and this time throws it into right field. Then Taylor gets a ground ball with men on first and second, looks at the runner at second, who's half-way between second and third, and throws nearly high to first. Must've forgotten that there was a runner at first.

And my goodness Hunton is a big guy.

Bottom of the 9th in Peoria, tie game.

Luis Montanez hit his 12th HR (solo shot). He also doubled "what a surprise."

Sounds like Drew Larsen has had a nice game so far -- on base 4 times.

He was hit by a pitch for the 16th time this season. The franchise record is 23. Sparkling D, including an 8-3-5 putout at 3rd. HAHA

Larsen walks

Bernard Ks trying to sac bunt. :x

Chiefs lose on an unearned run in the 10th inning for the second day in a row. Fuld's hit streak ends.

Ugh.

I shouldn't be allowed to watch minor league games. First the Chiefs blowout, and now this. Hawks down 15-5 in the middle of the 6th.

This is bringing a whole new meaning to the term "Piggy-back start"

Sweet, he's getting called up soon. I was wondering what was taking so long, 3 year guy in a big baseball conference, he's clearly too advanced.

Does Peoria have a motorized tarp? I just had an idea for a minor league promotion day.

That's one way of putting it. After the throw to first got away, the runner advanced from first to third. The count was 2-2, and the Chiefs elected to intentionally walk the hitter. The first intentional ball was thrown wildly and Bernard just barely got a glove on it. I'm actually surprised they gave him a pb for that, as he was actually jumping and reaching as he made contact with the ball with his glove.

The best part was the moron next to me asking the people around him why the Chiefs would call for a pitchout in that situation.
