How many MLB players have been raised in the Chicago area and succeeded in a Cubs uniform. Those only ones that I could think of are Kenny Lofton and Latroy Hawkins (and we know what happened with Latroy).

Mark Mulder was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs and now is in St. Louis, but there aren't any more that I can think of?

Anyone else have anything to add?

Cliff Floyd went to Mulder's high school, along with Eddy Curry. We almost got Floyd over the offseason. I think Hairston grew up on the south side, or close to it. His dad played for the Sox right?

There is currently a Chicago grown lad that is currently available that has one of the best OBP's as a lead off hitter in the history of baseball. And he also plays LF. Oh, and he's fast too (just for Dusty).

Ron Coomer. They ran a freaking story every other day about how he was from Chicago and loved to play in his hometown.

Did LLoyd McClendon succeed? He's from Gary. And since we're just naming off names of people that played for the Cubs and were from Chicagoland...how bout Dan Plesac.

Gary Bennett of the Nationals is from my hometown of Waukegan as was 2 yrs behind me in school. I'm actually surprised he made it to the bigs, cuz he wasn't that good then.
