I mean, just look at his numbers in the last month (not counting today)

.365/.419/.656 7HR 23RBI 7BB 12K

Oh wait, that's Aramis Ramirez

.356/.450/.663 9HR 24RBI 15BB 11K

That's Pujols. Now obviously Pujols' numbers are better, but the fact that you can look at Ramirez' line, and be fooled into thinking that it is Albert's (the walks kind of give it away) is amazing.

I don't understand why he didn't wait to negotiate his deal. He obviously did the Cubs a huge favor on that one. Always nice to see a superstar give a home team discount.

He has an out clause after two years so it's not like it was a horribly stupid move.

It's not like he'd exercise that clause. He did say he wants to remain a Cub for the rest of his life.

I'd guess the odds are high he would exercise it if he can make more money, with the Cubs or elsewhere.

Are you for real? Do you seriously think that he would turn down a bunch more money so that he could be a Cub for two more years?

If the team is winning then YES, he stays.

If the team is not then he probably would choose to leave.

I'll just leave it at the fact that the out clause is there. He and his agent probably had to give up a bunch to have it there. It was probably also part of the reason why the negotiations went so long. A person doesn't go through this much trouble if they plan on staying if they have a couple of good to great years and are more valuable on the open market.

Or maybe Aram and his agent took one look at what happened to Sammy and realized that they don't want anything like that to happen again.

Aramis is about to enter his prime while Sammy was well past it. I doubt that was the case. In the end, is all comes down to $$$$$.

Don't forget who represents Aramis now....one S. Boras. If the Cubs don't improve next year, Aramis walks for 2007.

Really? I didn't hear Aramis hired Scott. :?

until i see a link, i'm not going to believe that. there would have been a lot of discussion on here about it.

Unless he's changed agents since March, Ramirez is represented by Adam Katz.
