I wonder what the plan for him is rest of season. Obviously they want him to start long-term, but he could help the big club out of the pen a lot sooner.

The rotation isn't looking too strong right now either. And we know how Jed felt about MLB SP prices last deadline.

I'm not saying it will happen, or that it's even the best course, but I think "Wiggins MLB SP" is probably still on the table come August. Assume that he will build up innings for the next month and change and it's his "spring training" for lack of better term.

Maybe the Cubs are copying the Dodgers in holding pitchers back so they are fresh in August thru the rest of the year. 😬Maybe Steele, Boyd and Wiggins give the Cubs the starting pitching they need closing out the season. For the record, I know that isn’t what they are doing intentionally. And I know that isn’t going to happen. Just putting a positive, albeit, doubtful spin on the season. 🤷

A silver lining of more or less starting his season in June is the team really doesn't need to worry about managing his innings from here.  If we're being aspirational I'd have visions of Trey Yesavage and Cam Schlittler dancing in my head.
