Not to rub salt in the wound, but after watching Baseball Tonight and seeing Jeff Brantley suggest the only All-Star on the Royals was their grounds crew, it got me thinking who should go for KC. I see 2 other possiblities besides Sisco.

Sweeney is having a decent year, hitting .300/.336/.512 with 9 homers and 37 RBI. However with Texeira, Ortiz, and possibly Konerko on the roster, I doubt Francona takes another 1b. It is possible though, especially since he is one of the few "no namers" on the Royals.

Another possiblity is Emil Brown, who has put up a .294/.361/.468 line with 8 HR and 37 RBI. However with the OF being such a deep position, it will be tough for him to get in.

Then there's Sisco, who has a 2.63 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP and 43 K's in 41 innings. I know middle relievers are rarely picked, but someone has to go for KC and it might just be him.

Thoughts?

He doesnt really deserve it, but it still hurts to see it since there are multiple people on the roster who we could have dumped, but didnt.

I don't think Sisco will be the all-star. It's hard for any reliever, especially non-closers to be chosen. Add to the fact, he's been used mainly in middle releif in blow-outs, I have a feeling that he'll be over looked regardless of his numbers.

It's hard not to pitch in a lot of blow-outs when you play for the Royals.

Who do you think will be picked? No one on their team is deserving, but someone has to go.

Sweeney. He doesn't deserve it, but he leads the team in HR's and SLG. He has a .299 BA which is at least respectable, and he's the most known commodity on the team.

If I had to guess I would bet Sweeney would too. But Sisco has a decent shot IMO.

I think the fact that he's a middle reliever kills any chance that he has.

If Lance Carter can be an All Star, Sisco certainly can. The 1B and OF are deep, Tony Graffanino sadly might be an option as well except the fact this his power numbers at a power position are not adequate. So yeah, I'm buying Sisco for All Star game (followed by a swift departure to the Cubs minor league system ;))
