I think McCarthy is fine. Nothing special, but fine. He’s going to help you be good. But never great and probably not for very long, but he’s fine.

Which is odd for a Steelers franchise that has been fine for about 15 years and wanted to change things up.

If they brought him back to try and woo Rodgers back it's dumb.

If they're gonna try and develop a QB and some WRs, I think McCarthy probably can do that and then dump him later to upgrade.

One of their owners, Art Rooney II does NOT want a rebuild. So my guess is they will bring Rodgers back and hope Will Howard will be ready by the end of 2026.

Ravens and Browns have problems, and Bengals are terrible. The division is so bad the Steelers could have gone full rebuild and nobody would really notice.

Buffalo wasn’t a team that needed an overhaul. They need to get over a hump. Brady’s been a candidate for a while. They have their QB. I think this makes sense

Disagree. Buffalo has maybe 5 seasons of elite Josh Allen left. They needed to move the needle, not promote more of the same. There was a clear power struggle between McDermott and Beane, and this feels like Beane putting a guy in who won't challenge him.

Of course, I may eat my words on this. One thing I can say confidently is that Beane should've been canned along with McDermott.

Their near/intermediate future is tied to their current QB. I see nothing wrong with giving him a coach he’s comfortable working with and either sink or swim. If it doesn’t work, it will probably be time to move on from Allen and the HC (and GM) all at the same time in 3-4 years. You can trade him in his final year(s) of contract and start from scratch.

needle moving head coach moves are for teams in desperate need of change. Buffalo just needs improvement, not an overhaul.

The coaching hire really doesn’t matter if they don’t get Allen some WR help. He and Cook have masked how talentless most of that offense is.

Not only should he have been canned with McDermott, but he has come off as really slimy in all of this.

Todd Monken is the next "former HC" of the Browns.

And Jim Schwartz is reportedly unhappy about being passed over for the job and wants out. lol

The Vikings just fired their GM.

So does this mean the coach wanted to keep Darnold but he overruled him? Because that organizations demise was definitely moving to JJM and I have to assume the coach was on board.

One way or another it has to be about the QB position right?  The timing suggests that it was Darnold getting to the Super Bowl that was the final nail.

Who knows. Kwesi came from a pretty non traditional role compared to most GMs. Probably gave him little room for error.

That said, Vikes seem to have a habit of conflict at the coach-GM role. I'm actually a little bit of a fan of healthy internal conflict, but probably not to that degree.

Reminder too that Poles turned down Vikes overtures to focus on Bears opportunity in 2022.  He must have seen the reality of the respective ownership groups.
