I like Ponce.  Gives off the strongest Matt Boyd vibes of anyone in this year's FA class.  That said Shota taking the QO killed my interest in him.  With two open rotation spots you can speculate like this, not with just one.

Exactly. If he was 2nd the pitcher of the offseason he'd be a perfect upside signing in the back of the rotation, but with only 1 shot open you simply can't gamble it all on Ponce.

This rotation might be really good, but I wonder if they'll be able to offload Berrios if they eat enough of that contract.

I agree with this. He couldn’t be our main pitcher added. So this one doesn’t bother me in the least. I don’t think the Cubs were shopping here.
