He started the two most important wins in Cubs modern history, and led the league in ERA in 2016.

He'll always be one of my favorite players.

I'm sad to see him go. But I'm glad he had something of a bounceback season. There's hardly a team in baseball that wouldn't pay him a salary to be their 5th starter next year. So at least he's going out on his terms.

Anyway…

Happy retirement, Kyle! He will always be a Baseball legend as a World Series champion. But to do it with the historically unsuccessful Chicago Cubs just makes it all the more special. Getting his 100th win this year bookends his career.
