Good news, the Cardinals are up 6-4 over the reds, though they were up 6-0 so not trending well. Marlins are down 2-0 to Phillies, Yankees up 2-0 over Brewers

Within 20 mins, brewers tie up Yankees, marlins tie up Phillies. Cardinals still clinging to 6-4 lead over the reds after escaping a bases loaded jam

can't decide who the cubs should be rooting for in Marlins/Phillies

I know the Marlins have a tough schedule but I want whichever team is going to help the Cubs make the playoffs especially having lost the tiebreaker to them.

anyways marlins now lead 3-2, cardinals up 7-4. If either the Marlins or Reds win the cubs cushion is down to 2.5 games

Brewers now up 5-2, marlins still beating Phillies, Cardinals winning 9-4 now.

trending towards being 2.5 games safe in WC and 3 GB division

I just want to make sure we’re in. Our last week will be tough. Go Phillies.

Hoping the Braves have a big gap on the Dodgers so they don’t need to beat us.

That Brewers series will likely go one of two ways.

If it matters to the Brewers, it likely means both teams played at least fairly well and then both are probably in the playoffs.

If it doesn’t matter to the Brewers then it means that they probably wouldn’t pitch any of their good starters much at all since the WC round starts on a Tuesday and the season ends on Sunday. So whoever they want to pitch Tuesday won’t pitch in the series and whoever they want to pitch Wednesday likely won’t either. Their good relievers won’t pitch much either.

There is a small chance both the Cubs and the Brewers struggle and neither has a playoff spot or the division clinched.

Very true. I’ve been hyping that last week up in my head so much I didn’t think of it that way.

I like Merryweather but Leiter has been up and down lately and Adbert is hurting right now.

I think a lot of the struggles lately even for guys like Leiter and Adbert have been the recent hot temperatures.  When you sweat you're just not going to get the movement on your pitches, and command is harder.  Much harder for Leiter to command that split with a sweaty hand, that's a really tough pitch to throw.

Cooler day today with clouds, and we saw Taillon's breaking balls move like crazy, Gallen's FB and curve were almost unhittable, and Adbert's 2-seam was moving like crazy too

Gotta give it to Assad, his stuff has been moving and locating well even in the heat.  Maybe he's just more used to it based on where he's from.

Yeah I never really liked hoerner up there though I do think he’s a really smart hitter. Now that tauchman turned back into a (still kinda serviceable) pumpkin, I think you drop them and move everyone else up a couple slots.

Ross was pretty clear that this will be the lineup moving forward.  He'l tweak it against LHP
