I believe Wisdom is now 7 for his last 67 with 35 Ks.

Is that bad,? because that sounds bad.

Batting around is obviously ten batters. To go “around”, you need to get back to the same place you started and that requires the same batter to step to the plate.

I'm sorry but that is incorrect and now you must go to baseball jail.  It brings me no pleasure to report this but I don't make the rules.

Write down the lineup. Draw a line starting with the first batter of the inning and loop around to the last batter of the inning. Does it complete an entire circle? You've batted around.

Nine hitters doesn't do it.

This is a bizarre analogy because a lineup is a line, not a circle. If you arranged the order in a circle, 9 batters would make a complete circle.

So is the first batter like this:

1-

or

-1

batting a round = all 9 batters.

a round = all =/= circle

Give me a round of shots.  Everyone, no one gets 2.

The phrase exists to describe a noteworthy event, "everyone hit" is noteworthy, "everyone hit and this other guy hit twice" is not.

I will never cease to be baffled that this even exists as a debate, it's like talking to someone from a different version of earth.

Clearly, batting around is 9 if you bat 9. 10 is an overlap.

Nope. You're wrong.  Here are nine batters in the inning:

Here's 10 batters:

In your example, Nico doesn't have a line to his left when he starts the inning, so the act of him taking at at bat moves the line to the right/around the circle.  That means Madrigal's at bat does the same thing, closing the circle at 9.

So you would have a different definition of batting around in the first? No line to the first hitter there. That's just dumb.

re-reading your post, it's the opposite. The final inning wouldn't bat around with nine guys, then? That's also dumb.

If you say the Cubs batted around in the 1st inning. Nico would be the first batter in the 2nd inning.

PIT is playing MIL this weekend, which doesn't make for a clean way to quickly gain games. I guess we root for MIL to take 2 of 3?

Nine is always batting around regardless of inning, the fact that there isn't technically another inning for a guy to be due up doesn't change anything since that first guy already hit.  Again, 'everyone got to hit' is a simple and noteworthy thing to have a phrase for, and it means consecutive innings will/would have the same leadoff hitter if it stopped exactly at 9.  'Everyone got to hit plus another hitter' has no purpose and is why anyone saying 10 tries to jump through hoops with definitions of a circle.

I'm a Brewers fan so my opinion doesn't count around here but I'd be a lot more concerned about the Brewers than the Pirates over 162. The Brewers continue to hang in there despite losing what felt like half their roster for a month. If Woodruff comes back healthy, that rotation could look a lot scarier in a hurry.

I'd agree, the Cubs also play the Pirates again next week so if you're wanting maximum short term standings benefit you can make the case they'll have the chance to continue climbing against them immediately.
