nobody seems to think much of him but also becoming harder to ignore Perlaza's been white hot for a few months now as well, after an abysmal April

Yeah, everything I've seen says that he'll be left off the 40 man this offseason, but that he probably won't get picked in the rule 5. In fact, I think he's a minor league free agent if he's not put on the 40. He'll need to be re-signed and convinced he's got a real shot to leapfrog all the other OF prospects to get a chance with the Cubs.

The contact rates for Canario improved substantially, and stayed improved even during his initial struggles at Iowa. I tend to think it's genuine development and not just a hot streak.

 

I think you deal one of Canario/Davis this winter and assume the other will get 400+ PAs in CF next year.

I think this offseason, Canario will universally be in the Cubs top 10 across the major publications. We know a lot of the major publications take till the offseason to bump certain guys up. MLB Pipeline already has him in their top 10.
