Good pitching day. Excited to see how Herz follows up his career day last week. And Clarke's peripherals have stayed pretty strong at Tenn, hopefully he can start managing contact a little better from here out.

Amongst BA’s top 25 pitching prospects to watch in the DSL:

12. Freylin Silverio, RHP, Cubs: Silverio is a lanky 6-foot-3 Dominican righthander with long limbs and a fastball that has been up to 91 mph, with plenty of space to add weight and strength to be throwing in the mid 90s one day. Silverio has a starter's look too, with sound mechanics and feel for a curveball. The curve is his best pitch, a potential plus offering that's ahead of his changeup.

Do we know how Darius Hill is tools-wise? Because the numbers are pretty fun and he's not *that* old so if he's like an actual CFer then after another month or two of taking at Iowa he should be breathing down the necks of Heyward and Ortega.

He's more of a 4th Ofer type. He doesn't have one tool that really stands out but he's doesn't do anything poorly either. His hit tool is probably his best asset.

Defensively, he's more of a natural RFer.

He's an ideal asset to fill out the btm of the roster.

After watching that St. Louis series I can't help but think of Donovan when I hear that description and look at Hill's line. Donovan is an infielder and had better plate discipline and scouting pedigree(7th round pick), but it's a pretty clear image of what an excellent/uncommonly good outcome for Hill would be.

I'm looking forward to having a guy with outrageous Soriano-esque hot streaks again. Can't make the whole team out of those guys but having one or two is fun as hell.

Might be time to start paying more attention to Chris Clarke. He's getting BABIP'd to hell, which you can't always take for granted as luck in the minors, but the numbers otherwise are very strong. And the stuff I believe is roughly #3 starter caliber?

His AA performance is an odd one. Such good K/BB and only 2 HR in 22 IP, but he's not exactly giving up a bunch of seeing eye singles either, 3+ XBH allowed in 3 of his 5 starts(with one of the 2 being a 2 IP, 4 R outing). I'd probably put him more in the Swarmer bucket of being org depth unless something(luck, pitch dev, etc) keeps him from giving up XBH(like Swarmer post-covid).

I don’t think his stuff is #3 caliber. FB velocity has been low 90s last year and so far this year.

That's unfortunate. I had half-remembered 93-95 (so a grade ~55 fastball) with a plus curve. But yeah if he's a grade below that FB wise that cuts the excitement significantly. Probably still a MLBer but like TT alluded to with the Swarmer comp more of a "valuable for exactly as long as he has MiLB options" type.
