Honestly the 2 walks are more exciting than the HR when it comes to Velazquez. If he's gonna be selective enough to not just be a hacker who runs into some bombs his chances of being more than a platoon guy are much higher.

Canario with 2 walks today too.

As a low contact, high power maybe early career CFer (especially at Wrigley), is Velazquez really that far below Brennen as a prospect? I mean that more as a compliment to Velazquez than a dig at Davis btw. I'm willing to give Davis some time and we're still early enough that a few big games change the slash line a lot. But Nelson has gone quite awhile mashing the horsefeathers out of the ball. And there was a defensive scouting report from the AFL that didn't seem so bad

The difference in level is important. The AFL is roughly equivalent to AA (possibly worse depending on the quality of pitching, which often isn’t that great).

Preciado with three hits including two doubles. Probably his first really good game at MB, hopefully he can go on a run from here.

The XBHs are especially nice since I’ve been worried he wasn’t strong enough for the level, a la Made last year.

Wonder if the gun is hot in St Paul. Kilian hit a season-high 97 yesterday. Both are velocities they’ve hit before but are a few mph harder than they’ve thrown this season.

Lost in the dong-splosion yesterday, Kevin Alcantara's numbers have gotten up to a pretty good place.

He's now hitting .232/.348/.391, which in the Carolina League is a 110 wRC+. He's got a great 13.3% walk rate and a "too high but not alarming" 28.9% K-rate.

He's not going to be part of the next moving day with all of the outfielders who are exploding right now, but he looks on track for more than a trivial amount of time at SB this year.

Yeah, that's nice to see after a miserable start. Even if you take out just the first 3 games, his numbers jump up considerably (.263/.377/.456, 134 wRC+, 13% BB, 26.1% K). Hopefully it's a trend that continues.
