Aaaaand Wicks gives up 5 in the 3rd (so far) after SB put up 6 in the first half of the inning. 6 Ks and some good stuff flashing all his pitches. I could see that inning being a mix of fatigue on multiple fronts with the shorter rest btw starts and long sit btw innings, had no real issues in the first two innings

Eyeballing gameday it seemed a bit unlucky. "fly ball" single, walk where Gameday had at least one very bad ball call, bunt single, K, bases clearing double, K, HBP, bases clearing double, pick off. In average circumstances that's probably a 2 run inning, with good luck, scoreless.

Yeah, sounds like some bad luck:

Hey, Bailey Horn's alive. Curious to see if we start seeing anything with him. I think between an injury and a stint on the development list we've seen very little in a Cubs uniform since he came over

Feels like we're weeks rather than months from doing a moving day with Nelly to Iowa, Canario to Tenn, and PCA to SB

Myrtle Beach combined no-hitter.

Good lord that was a filthy slider. Awesome for the team, but man, I may have to watch Reindl a bit closer.

No games today but there was extended spring training action: https://www.thecubreporter.com/05022022/arias-throws-gas-while-hernandez-goes-deep-sloan-park

Michael Arias fired three innings of one-hit shutout ball with five strikeouts (all five swinging), Cristian Hernandez blasted a three-run HR over the LF bullpen to the spot Al Yellon occupies during Cubs MLB Spring Training games, and Miguel Pabon made his game debut as a catcher and drilled an RBI single, as the Cubs "Blue" squad blanked the Cubs "Red" squad 5-0 in a three-inning intrasquad game played Monday morning at Sloan Park in Mesa, AZ.

Michael Arias is the Cubs top pitching prospect at Extended Spring Training, and will likely be the ACL Cubs #1 starter once the ACL season begins in June. A former shortstop in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, the 20-year old Arias was signed by the Cubs in 2021 and converted to a RHP after he was released by the Jays. He features a 96-99 MPH FB (he has touched 100 in "live" BP), a SL, and a CH, and while his slider command can be a bit inconsistent and the change is a new pitch he is just starting to throw in games, he had all of his pitches working for him today.
