Dan Quinn would be the worst possible hire not named Leslie Frazier. Complete disaster in Atlanta after Shanahan left. Started every season awful and then won enough meaningless games to save his job.

yes, he should stay a DC

The only thing I'd say about Quinn is I remember reading that he has some really solid assistants lined up but can't remember if I've actually seen any names.

Lot of fans of Caldwell on Twitter. I don't understand. Sure he won relatively speaking in Indy and Detroit. But did nothing in the postseason. I also wouldn't care if he won rings every year he coached. Dude will be 70 when Justin Fields' rookie deal is over. He couldn't even be an OC last year because of health issues. There's a very real chance he doesn't even make it 3 years. The Bears should not be considering a scenario where it's actually likely that Fields will have 3 different head coaches before he potentially signs his 2nd contract. Hopefully, they hire a GM and he puts an end to all this horsefeathers.

If they go with Caldwell I guess it would be a bridge type of situation where the Bears want to get the franchise headed in the right direction. I don't necessarily agree with that strategy but that has to be what they are thinking.

Either way, the Bears seem to be doing the opposite of what the most successful franchises are doing these days. The 4 conference championship coaches are all offensive guys, 3 of them young offensive guys. But the Bears are looking at old dudes with a heavy concentration of guys with a defensive background.

Yeah, he's been gone from Atlanta for a year. I'm not sure what he's learned in a few months in Dallas that is going to make him a much better HC than he was in 2020....and he needs to be a much better HC than he was in 2020.

Isn't it what many of us were expecting? The youngish hot offensive coordinator approach didn't work with Nagy so, lets go old and/or defensive background maybe that'll work. I'd like to think we're all overreacting but, such stupidity in approaches is ingrained within the McCaskey's.

I don't think there's a GM candidate the Bears could hire that I'd be upset with, I feel like it's a strong field. Wish they'd just pick one and move on to the coaching process. This process should have been started weeks before the season ended. But that would have been too easy. Edited by mias_tisg

Based on current names I agree. Ireland was a big one I didn't want but haven't heard much there.

Part of that is its too hard to judge GMs. All first timers, but all seem reasonable so let's roll the damn dice.

Maybe that approach didn't work because you hired a guy with a handful of games of playcalling experience and 1 year as an OC and then previously hired a guy out of the CFL who hadn't coached in the NFL in any capacity for a decade.

I know you arent saying this, just fighting back on the logic the Bears are probably employing. I feel like I'm being held hostage by a terrible organization.

will you hire Daboll? yes - cool. no eliminated

is that the entire hiring committee? I ddin't realize they had more then just Geo and Ted, outside of the consultant group

how are you this angry about how they are doing this without knowing how they are doing this? It's been widely reported and discussed that the committee includes those specific people.

well, first of all I'm not angry, just bored with the search. second of all, where I live very little about the upper Midwest/Chicago in general gets reported, much less the Bears specifically. If it was posted here then I either missed it or failed to pile linked tweets to find it. Like, I had to google "Tanesha Bears" to find out they had this larger committee, and I only saw her name in wrigleys post

I haven't lived in an area that reports on chicago-based stuff in nearly 3 decades, but the internet exists so it's readily available.

I apologize jersey, I had no idea they were approaching it this way and didn't realize it would bother you so much that I didn't do the proper independent research. I mean, part of the reason I post here is to get the links you all post from reports back in Chicago to help educate me on these things - but maybe that's a horrible reason

I'm not bothered by your lack of independent research. Nobody should be doing their own research.
