Now NBC Sports Chicago is saying Daboll is the favorite. I think they all are just throwing darts at this point.

Are they reporting he is the favorite or just regurgitating that he is literally the betting favorite, which we saw yesterday

I guess Joe Schoen is out

I wonder if he has designs on bringing in either Daboll or Frazier as HC

I heard on the radio that Schoen was going to make Daboll his priority as coach wherever he ends up. Seemed like the two were a package deal, but who knows.

I would like Daboll given where Fields is at in his development, so I'm hoping they are not paired up already.

I dont like that, not because I wanted Schoen (I'm indifferent to him as a GM) but for the potential of him hiring Daboll and us ending up with Frazier

I do not believe it's unrealistic to think Daboll' will hold out for a Bears offer, it's best job available.

If doesn't who is the next best option Flores, Leftwich?

I don't know, rumor mill is hot in Caldwell as just HC now. Though maybe he feels like he'd turn down a HC gig for the "right" OC gig. Didn't Kubiak walk away from HC and the resurface as a OC. Older guy, had some undetermined health issue.

As for a Kahn/Hortiz pairing, I guess it depends on where Hortiz ranks in Ravens FO. He might already be the "Secondary" guy under DeCosta. If he is they might not let him move laterally. And Ravens tend to be a really loyal org that people don't love to move away from. DeCosta turned down opportunities for years.

Before the "Flores wants Watson, power over GM, and a top 5 QB" chatter, i was hoping for Flores as HC with Caldwell at OC if they couldn't find a younger sexier version. Caldwell is said to have a good history developing QBs, but not sure who beyond Peyton Manning and Stafford, neither of which really needed all that much from him, imo.

A defensive HC may be better off targeting a former HC who came from OC in general. Sort of like Kubiak or Wade Phillips on the defensive side. John Harbaugh seems to have had a relative degree of stability with older coordinators who never made it to be the sexy young hire type.

Bears Twitter won't freak out about that hire at all, I'm sure.

They seem to be in 'why would you go to coach Daniel Jones instead of Fields?' mode. And I get it, I'm high on Fields too. But its very possible Daboll isn't quite as high, or prefers to being able to pick his own QB of the future. It probably won't be in this draft, but in the meantime having 2 top-7 picks is not a bad starting point.

Yea, I'm sure it will be Fields vs his own choice, whether from this class or in future.

Lot on Twitter about Flores and NYG. Sounds like a 2-man race there between Flores and Daboll. Lot of people matched Flores to the Giants job yesterday, before Schoen was hired obviously, but I'm guessing Schoen isn't in the dark about their interest. So maybe both sides think something could work there. The assumption is that Daboll and Schoen will naturally work together, but I do wonder if Schoen accepted the job with the condition of going after Flores or if they just asked him to give both guys a fair shot.

Like was said, not necessarily Jones vs. Fields decision. Could be Fields vs. Watson or Fields vs. potential to draft your own QB and with a pair of top 7 picks this year + less pressure to win right away.

Schoen should grab one elite prospect. Trade down the other if he can for other assets. Do a big sell off of whatever vets he can and blame "Cap hell" and then enter 2023 or 2024 well positioned for QB of choice and a totally clean cap situation.

That could or could not look attractive to a coach. If there were a 2022 QB prospect they liked or were in alignment on aggressively going after Wilson/Watson that could be appealing to some coaches too.

Interesting about Flores. I saw that he was interviewing but my skeptic brain sadly assumed this was a Rooney Rule interview before hiring Daboll

couldn't possibly care less about what kaplan has to say or what he or his "source" thinks about the search process

this "too many candidates" thing is the dumbest narrative i've ever seen since the "these guys aren't qualified to hire a top football guy, so the same guys need to hire a different top football guy to hire a less top football guy" thing

There was also a part about his sources tell him that the Bears are asking bad questions in these interviews. Also flimsy but its he claims its sourced so I thought I'd share. In reality it sounds like news for angry Bears fans that are looking for ways to be more angry

I mean, you'd hope Polian would prep them well, but I guess he can't stop George midstream if he wants to ask a candidate mid interview some asinine question.

A silly and fun thought exercise as we inch closer to a possible new GM:

No idea who the 1st one is but I can smell Ted Phillips from a mile away

People on Twitter are saying leftwich had a great interview with the Bears but I can’t find any sort of sourced report

DBB had an incredibly vague tweet.

Then saw this, but yea failed to see anyone actually sau that

Khan and Leftwich please. Who knows at this point what's going to happen.
