This is stupid. Bryant redefined 17.

The end

Mark Grace wore #17 for 13 years and had well over 2,000 hits with the Cubs. Obviously Kris Bryant had a much higher peak, but there is something to be said for the consistency and length of contributions from Grace. I think they lay equal claim to the number in Cubs history.

I don't have lasting hate towards Grace. For me, he was one of the few bright spots between Maddux and Sosa. But if we are talking about the best representative for the Cubs to wear #17, it wasn't him. It was Bryant.

I didn’t see this posted anywhere. I think this can easily be taken out of context as I’m sure Theo/Jed floated many numbers to Boras just not in a formal offer. Why make a formal offer when you are so far off.

What I do think is interesting is Kris still talking about this and being a bit disingenuous (if my assumption is right) in an attempt to make the Cubs look like the bad guy. I’m not saying Kris is the bad guy. There doesn’t have to be a bad guy here (except Ricketts).

ouch

Being on a winning team does feel right. I love Chicago, but San Fransisco is pretty awesome and the surroundings are pretty great too.

exactly. he's on the best team in baseball and he's kris bryant. of course he's going to be fine and say things like that. i'm happy for him and best of luck to him always. it's not like he said he wished he never won the WS in 2016 or anything. it's time to let them go.
