The average ball put in play off of Williams has been hit 92.6 MPH. For reference, that's the same exit velocity as Freddie Freeman and Rhys Hoskins have so far this season. That's bad. Obviously.

Honestly though, there is a lot of encouraging stuff from him too. He's throwing more strikes than ever. He's throwing more first strikes than ever. He's getting more swing and miss than ever. He's got the second best groundball rate of his career. Pre Statcast, I'd be pretty adamant that this is a league average starter who got BABIP'd for a month.

Who is doing the play by play for the Cubs? Does Boog not do weekend games?

Beth Mowins. And I think he's done some Saturdays, but I don't think he's done a single Sunday yet.

I’ve enjoyed her so far. I’d take her over Zaidman any day

Beth Mowins (and Joe Davis for that matter) have that Brockmire-ish, cheesy announcer voice thing. I think they're both fine but it always cracks me up.

Boog has it too.

Yeah, but Boog is good. If you’re good and have a voice for announcing it’s an asset, but if you’re bad and have a polished play by play voice you’ll always be Chip Caray.

Loving the groundballs but it's kind of crazy how little swing and miss he's gotten in the early going.

She’s doing a great job in what must be an anxiety filled situation. Hat off to her. She not trying too hard, and calling a great game

Matt Duffy, Cub MVP so far.

Why must it be an anxiety filled situation? She’s done plenty of high profile PBP. I doubt a regional sports network game between the Cubs and Pirates is *that* big of a deal for her. I mean she’s been the lead PBP on a MNF game before.

Not gonna lie: JD sounds like he has more chemistry with Beth than he does with Boog.
