Yeah I’d assume giving Tepera and Workman MLB deals is indicative Wick isn’t pitching until sometime in the summer at the earliest. Tepera had the third highest whiff rate of all RPs last year, it didn’t make sense to cut him to begin with. Glad he’s back. Kimbrel/Workman/Tepera/Chafin and then a few of the other guys (like Adam, Underwood, etc) until Wick is back healthy should be a good bullpen.

I feel like the team went so out of their way to hold onto Underwood last year, it's weird to me that they did this rather than just 60-day DL Wick. To me that says at least one of the following is true right now:

 

- They think it's a really opportune time to sneak a guy through waivers (as evidenced by Stock just making it)

- Wick is behind, but it's only by a matter of a few weeks rather than months

- Underwood has looked bad thus far in camp

 

Hopefully just the first two!

It's time to let go of hope with Underwood. It's been 9 years, he's gonna turn 27 this summer, and that arrow straight fastball has gotten torched in the high minors and MLB. It's not gonna happen.

Really too bad for Underwood. Hoping he gets a chance elsewhere and does well. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if Maples was next to go off the 40 man. Dude's been in the system for nearly a decade.
