I don't really get this for the wsox. They give up 6 years of Dunning for a guy who isn't going to be a huge upgrade as his 2019 l ooks like an outlier.

Dunning's still plenty far from his ceiling, guy averaged 91-92 on his fastballs during his debut. He might one day be similar to Lynn, if things go great since Lynn's had a really good career, one day as a guy without elite velocity but fastballs that play really well but also that might not happen full time (whatever that is) until until 2022+

 

Basically, you don't consider moving Yu Darvish or Kyle Hendricks for this kind of prospect, shouldn't move the needle

Yeah he’s a type of prospect who should be a secondary or third piece of any deal for either Yu or Kyle (depending on the main piece). Same would go for KB as a 2nd/3rd piece.

I disagree, there's #3 upside with #4 being the most likely scenario. You're greatly underselling a guy who was a top 100 arm until Tommy John.

He's been pretty great since basically the moment he left the Cardinals. I'd guess he's legit a top ~20 SP.

Great move by the WS. They are in a win-now mode and picked by a really solid #3 starter for $9 million, plus they have enough good prospects to go beyond 2021.
