Notable injuries: Cory Abbott, Chase Strumpf (LIMTED ACTIVITY - left arm in cast)

 

 

Amongst players who played in the DSL last year, I see Joel Machado, Rafael Morel and Yohendrick Piñango on the Eugene/Mesa roster. Ronnier Quintero is on the South Bend roster (obviously things will change as guys get sent down from big league camp).

We got Rucker back from the Orioles so I guess count him in as another arm for Iowa.

Guys usually only get pushed down one level over the course of ST, right? If that (questionable) assumption holds, it implies that Hearn and Verdugo will be starting at SB to open the year. Not wildly unexpected in either case, but I'd say a pleasant surprise.

 

On the flip side, I'm hoping that Strumpf being in camp with SB is related to injury, because that's a BAD sign if he is healthy and doesn't open the year with MB.

Yeah, it’s normally a one-level drop but catchers are more likely to drop multiple levels than other positions since the big league camp uses more catchers.
