Bears still have the Saints, Chargers, Eagles, Packers, Vikings, Rams, Chiefs and Cowboys on their schedule. That’s like virtually every good NFL team except the Patriots. You can’t lose a neutral site game to the Raiders.

Well, if you completely horsefeathers up your week prior the way Nagy did, you can certainly lose a neutral site game to Oakland

This is getting to “elite running game” levels of overkill here. You aren’t going to convince someone the 40th time you make the argument

You’re right. We lost because we have a no talent team.

Defense was bad all game, but the killer call was the running into the kicker. Watch the tape again the Bears player was knocked into the kicker.

He wasn’t knocked into the kicker.

I disagree. He was diving right to where the ball was going to be kicked until the Raiders player knocked him into the kicker. It was early in his run up, but he definitely altered the course of his dive.

roquan didn’t make any plays and we can’t control the LOS without Hicks

We controlled the LOS quite well against Minnesota last week without him.

yeah and kwiatkowski was making all kinds of plays that roquan didn't. i assume roquan will be fine if he actually wants to keep playing football.

guys like nick williams, RRH, they're good players and can crank it up for one game if they're playing a ton of snaps but you need hicks in there to deliver consistently

Daniel is a good backup, but Trubisky is not really much better. Trubisky is more athletic and can make the bad offensive line look better, but Daniel is a bit more intelligent and can more accurately throw the mid to deep ball. When Mitch is healthy, he's the one you go to, but I can't say that one is significantly better than the other.

Something's wrong with Roquan and I don't think we can assume he'll be fine. The coaching staff has said he's been acting weird for weeks and now we finally saw it in the game. If Roquan is still acting unlike himself these next two weeks, I think you have to go back to Kwiatkowski until Roquan gets himself figured out.

I didn't get to watch the game, but a Raiders fan friend of mine says he was surprised by how dominant the Raiders line was on both sides of the ball. He said Long was horrible.

Leno still hasn’t gotten out of his stance

This game is a trap. This is basically the Giants game from last year, all over again. Raiders are bad, but are pretty decent running the ball (just like the Giants last year). They've gotten off to a fast start (double digit early lead) in 3 of their 4 games so far. Their defense stinks, and will be worse without Burfict, but the Bears don't have the offense to do anything about it. And if they get out to a 10 or 14 point lead early, the Bears may be playing catch-up all day.

Granted, I know this defense doesn't even give up 14 per game, but they can only win games by themselves for so long. We saw them give up points last year vs. NE, Miami, and the aforementioned Giants. There will be a couple lapses this year. Just the nature of being a defense heavy team. And with Smith, Hicks, and Nichols' statuses up in the air still, you can't really expect the defense to completely dismantle even a bad team, while playing overseas and potentially missing multiple starters again.

Man, did i nail this game. Didn't go as far as predicting a loss......but it's pretty crazy how similar this season is to 2018.

Start with a tough loss against the Packers in both seasons where the team and coaching looked unprepared to start.

16-14 win against a bad team in an early season road game (AZ week 2 last year, Den week 3 this year)

Blowout win and promising offensive performance against the worst defensive team they'll face all year (Was week 3, TB week for last year)

Mitch got basically the same injury earlier this year than last, so instead of Minnesota (Week 3 2018 win) and Miami (week 5 loss), i compare the last 2 games to when Mitch was out last year.....at Detroit and vs. NY Giants. Daniel played solid last year vs. Detroit, Bears fans and media alike were wondering loudly if he was a "better fit" for a potential at QB for a Superbowl worthy defense. Nevermind the fact the defense dominated and won the game while he did nothing special. Then when he has a full week to prepare as starter, he throws a couple bad picks, has his team playing catch up and then the defense can't bail the team out again.....same story, NY Giants game last year and again today. End result, Bears 3-2 after 5 games.

Granted the schedule is tougher on paper this year, but I still think the Bears are in a pretty decent spot. Coming out of the bye the Bears have 4 of 6 at home. Saints are 4-1, but will still not have Brees. Bridgewater had a great game today, but it was home against the aforementioned terrible Tampa D. Their 1 loss was a tough team on the road (Rams), and they beat the Hawks in Seattle thanks to defensive and special teams scores. The Chargers haven't started out great and get them in Chicago also. Lions and Giants are also beatable at home. With the Eagles and Rams being the road games.

If the Bears can fix their OL issues (WTF is going on with Leno) and whatever is happening with Roquan over the bye week, there's no reason they can't go 5-1 or 4-2 over the next 6. 7-4 still puts them in a decent spot going into the home stretch.

Brees is already throwing. Sure he won’t be back in two weeks?

Could be. Still like the Bears chances at home, coming off a bye and a mediocre defensive performance. No Hicks against his old team won't help though.

Daniels' regression has shocked me more than anything.

Posted (edited)
His regression? He’s having just as good of a year as last year. Even with a great defense, you can’t be unhappy if your backup goes .500.

You can be unhappy when you waste that much cap space on a completely incompetent veteran when a dime a dozen guy would do the same thing.

Daniel has not regressed, he was never good, and should not be on the team.

pretty sure UK was talking about James Daniels, not Chase Daniel

Haha, I knew that when I saw it this morning. Then completely glossed over that fact when I saw mention of the backup QB.

Yeah Daniels and Whitehair both look worse at supposedly their more natural positions.

The longer the offense looks incompetent, the more is on Nagy. The OL changes. The sitting in preseason. The offensive minded coach with an innovative offense should be getting more out of this unit for sure.

Here is a somewhat hot take: Are we sure Roquan is an impact player? Because I haven't really seen much evidence that he is.

Totally agree with the bolded. I'll add that Kyle Long is a massive issue. It's not that he's not playing up to his usual standards, he's playing like one of the worst guards in the league right now. He needs to sit.

He was fantastic early in the season, in on everything. But he's also an inside linebacker, so the level of impact isn't the same as some edge rusher extraordinaire.

He's definitely shown it at times his rookie year, and even week 1 this year.

Having not watched the last two games, and only listened, that's disappointing to hear about Whitehair because I thought he looked strong early on in the year.

Would really like to see a shakeup on the line coming out of the bye. But I'm sure they won't do that.
