What a strange signing that both made all the sense and no sense at the same time. There's got to be a lesson in there about buying a competitor's dumpster dive reliever allowed him to hit FA after an extended and stressful non-dominant high usage run that results in his highest innings total in a half decade

 

I liked it back then because I still trusted that the FO knew what they were doing when making FA signings, so the red flags didn’t bother me as much.

Morrow was a legit Kimbrel/Jansen/Chapman style super-reliever in 2017, and passed the eye test too. It sucks it worked out this way, but the high risk of this happening is why he got ~$25 million instead of ~$75 million.

Yeah, I basically completely ignored his usage by the Dodgers in the playoffs, especially from the perspective of his relatively stress free half decade prior. If anything I probably spun it as a good thing. Was pretty biased too since Morrow's always been cool for this game...

 

 

....which is almost 10 years old :shock:
