I learned recently that he just retired a couple of years ago.

Thank you! I was trying to think of him when I made my previous post and just couldn't come up with his name.

I don't know if that's a good move on his part or not. I think a big part of his problem is that he had no spring training, so a minor league assignment might have helped him get back on track. And I can't imagine anyone taking a chance on him at this point after struggling with two different teams.
