Adduci called up, Collins optioned

The Cubs have selected outfielder/infielder Jim Adduci’s contract from Triple-A Iowa, giving them a full 40-man roster, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune tweets. In a corresponding move, the Cubs optioned reliever Tim Collins.

Not sure why this was the best option for a bench bat but here we are. I guess it goes along with Maddon's comments that they dont want a young guy called up and not get playing time.

 

Adduci was a Cubs minor leaguer from 2007-2012 and now finally gets a shot in a Cubs uniform.
